Descriptions of your daily ensembles

Early Fall Outfits

So early fall has finally arrived to DC Metro. The mornings are cooler, but the days are still warm. Here are a few outfits as I transitioned from bare legs into tights.

1. I call this outfit "Autumn Leaves", like the Jacques Prevert poem, because of the colors:

2. This outfit I call "The Secretary":

6. Definitely called "StarTrek":

7. "Untitled" because I want it to have certain avant-guarde feel. ;-)

8. Black? Check. Navy? Check. Blue? Check. I give you "Lady in Blue":

You are a vision and such an artistic and literary inspiration!!! I am blown away once again. I am soo happy that you are here on the forum. You are so creative and mix pattern, color and styles so effortlessly. It seems as if you are having so much fun doing so. I am learning so much from your and want to copy all of your outfits. I love your "Autumn Leaves" outfit.
I envy your wardrobe!
Thank you gorgeous Danja!!!

Danja, I love when you post. I'm always impressed. One of the things I appreciate is your ability to work so many different kinds of looks yet they always look like you. I also love that you've named your looks. That is a prefect reflection of your artistry in the outfits. They are all so great but I think my favorite is the "Autumn Leaves." It's colors are subtle but the patterns create energy. It's great.

Wow Danja, I am speechless! Everything looks so amazing! As Angie would say, killer to the power of killer. I also want to copy everything. And such creative outfit names too! Swoon ...

Gorgeous! I love all of the names too-- it makes me anticipate each new style. Yummy!

Oh my gosh. I am literally feeling dizzy! That first outfit is beyond perfection. Everything else is pretty much amazing too.

I am trying to picture the workplace where you are wearing these amazing outfits. Do you work in a creative field, Danja?

Posted 1 month ago

GORGEOUS! I have no words...you are so creative, everyoutfit is pure perfection from head to toe.. an inspiration!

Danja, you are AMAZING! I love that you are naming the outfits, it makes me laugh.

I really like how you tie your scarves around your neck. Can you explain how you do it? I want to learn about this.

I love them all. You are so inspiring! Here are a few favorites:

The Secretary - so cute, beautiful retro combination.
Menswear Fall 37 - great contrasts, beautiful scarf. Maybe the pants are a bit short?
Star Trek - WOW! really fun, a bit different from some other outfits I've seen you post. Is this a new look for you?
Untitled - a great way to wear your polka dot skirt. I love the pop of blue.

You are picture perfect, Danja! So pretty, graceful, elegant, fun and effortless. And getting very skinny! You are losing weight before my eyes! Microscopic!

This week scores KILLER to the power of KILLER. Love your descriptions too. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to TAKE OFF INTO ORBIT BEFORE I EXPLODE…will be back to comment once I've landed and calmed down....

I love all your outfits from this but I especially love the secretary and the autumn leaves outfits! Also your peeptoe booties are spectacular!

Danja, your outfits are perfection. I don't know what else to say. I LOVE Autumn Leaves and I love how you named your ensembles. Pattern, texture, color--all superb!

Wow, Danja, you are like a walking work of art! I am completely blown away.
Love your outfit names!

I would love to have a glimpse at the creative outfit idea's whirling through your mind. You look so very beautiful, polished and artistic at the same time.

You're living proof that sophisticated does not been boring!

On a side note have you seen the photo's for the Rochas S/S 10 show because your beautiful skinny belt with corsage idea is on show for the world to see.

You ladies are always too kind with your comments.

Jean, I do try to have fun when I put my outfits together. And my wardrobe has shaped up to be a mix of everything I like, with no orphans, thanks to this forum.

Alecia, Rute, Tanya, Patience, Marianne, Kellygirl: each one of you has inspired me when I looked at your pics.

Laura, my field could be considered creative if you think that writing software is creative, so thank you for thinking of me having a fab creative job. :-) My workplace has a dressy code, but luckily we don't have to wear pant or skirt suits to work so I can get away with some things. I do wish I could wear platform sandals to work, but I think it would be really inappropriate. ;-)

Medusa, I am glad you like my StarTrek outfit. That dress finally got it's moment in the sun this year, after I took off 2" from the bottom. As far as tying scarves goes, I tie mine into a simple knot, but Angie has some posts on how to tie scarves the nice way. Just look under Accessories posts.

Dawn, I am glad you like my peep-toe booties. I think they are really cute, but my husband proclaimed them absolutely hideous ... :-)

Angie, you are too funny and too nice!

Oh Julie, thank you. I didn't see Rochas' show. That's too funny. A ticket to their show would have been nice as a thank you. ;-)

You need to have a gallery showing of your outfit photographs, with titles. :)

I think of you primarily as a skirt gal, but you blew me away with outfits #3 and #4. You have a Katharine Hepburn thing going on. Love it!

Posted 1 month ago

wow, all your outfits are beautiful. My favorite is #1!

Posted 1 month ago

Just when I think I have seen all your fabulousness...:) AMAZING

Without repeating myself from prior threads....I am blown away yet again!!

Gorgeous - every single one of them. I especially like Autumn Leaves & the Secretary! Danja, I have to ask - what kind of camera do you use? Your photos are always stunning and have such depth to them.

Oh, you're in D.C. - Do you feel like everyone in DC is obsessed with J Crew? All my friends that live there are!

All your outfits look as through they've come straight out a fashion magazine. Your style is fearless... it's quite inspirational. Gorgeous.

I love all your menswear inspired outfits. You are a perfect example of making menswear feminine and elegant.

Also ..if you ever want to get rid of that green/citron-ish flutter sleeve top, I call dibbsies...;0 Sooo fab!
Everyt time I see you post in it ,I run through all the things that would work with in my wardrobe!!...I am looking for one like crazy!!.:)

Beautiful! You have a great eye not for just what goes well together but also for what goes well with YOU. Thanks so much for sharing.

Posted 1 month ago

Thank you, ladies!

Shana, my husband takes pictures using Nikon D90 and he knows a thing or two about taking pictures. But these shots he calls "snapshots" :-). I admit, I am a JCrew fan(atic), but I didn't know it is a DC thing. Too funny! :-)

Taylor, I'll keep that in mind, but you might have to wait for a while. :-) You could check your local Neiman's. They just started an in store sale this week, and you might get find it there. The brand is Milla.

Thanks Danja, for sharing the info...we don't have a local NM, so I scoured their entire website...no luck, but I am not giving up...still looking.")

Wow Danja, when I saw all your links in your post I knew I was in for a treat - and not dissapointed!!! You are so sophisticated but also fun - I love it!!!

The first outfit looks like something out of a magazine shoot - every piece is gorgeous and creates such a "look" all together. I can't describe it properly, but I really love it on you!! And the second literally took my breath away - the colour and shape of the blouse are perfect on you!!! Love the belt and the booties - and just everything!!! The last outfit also made me smile - are they silver Me Too Swanns? I wore mine out for dinner last night with a pair of stirrup tights too!!!

I don't know what to say, other than thank you for the inspiration. The bar has officially been raised!

Hi, Danja! I finally got back to your thread so here we go:

1. KILLER. (You have a really long neck like me. I’m waving to you!). Can I have your gorgeous calves too? Just for a day.

2. KILLER to the power of KILLER. My favourite outfit! I launched into ORBIT with this one….. it completely sent me over the edge, frills and all….Good grief.

3. Cute! Do you think your pants are short? It might just be the angle of the picture. Not sure. Let me know what you think.

4. Adorable! KILLER shoes. I want those!!! And your heel wearing ability to go along with it. Pleeeeeeeeeze.

5. KILLER top. LOVE it! I’ve just done a shoulder padded look myself. Waving to you again! Do those pants seem short to you too? Good with flats though.

6. KILLER. My second favourite outfit! You and I wear exactly the same necklines. Waving to you for the third time:0)

7. KILLER. I adore this colour palette. You are especially lady-like in this picture. Audrey would be proud !

8. KILLER. My third favourite outfit my stirrup legging wearing mate! So mod and fab.

Thanks for gracing us not only with your truly remarkable outfits and beautiful self, but with the good quality pictures that accompany your look. It makes a huge difference and I am grateful to you and your marvelous photographer. YOU ARE FABULOUS.

What a treat to look at your pictures. You have a great way with soft neutrals. I adore #4, and #7. I'm crazy about the blue belt with the brown trousers in #4, and the blush dotted skirt in #7. On you ofcourse. It is you that makes these so special.

Danja, your retro style is amazing! I love your attention to detail in every outfit, and that you're not afraid to be chic and sport this look even while working in tech (I know a lot of women who are). You're a fabulous fashion role model. I can't wait to see more! :)

Tam, I believe that Swanns have become a signature look for YLF-ers. I've never seen them on anyone else.

Thank you Kyle, San, and Ana.

Angie, thank you very much for your opinion on each of my outfits. I was wondering how long it would take before I was found out. I am talking about pant length. :-) I like my pants on the short side of proper. My requirement is that the pant leg must cover the top portion of the heel by 1-2cm. I feel like with that length I can go from high heels to low heels if I need to. No wonder I am so drawn to the cropped trousers I've seen at JCrew.
