Dress Your Syle: Hanna

outfit (based on blue jeans, plain white t-shirt, and yellow shoes):

(my apartment was having a particularly messy day, and i was having a bad photographing day, hence the background and pixelated face :P)

i am itching to describe it, but as per kristen's instructions, i'm going to leave it to my three words as mentioned on the other thread - i think my style is:

* fun
* bright
* eclectic

i want it to be:

* sophisticated
* effortless
* clever (as per kristen's description)

so... how'd i do? :)

You did GREAT!!!! (Especially in keeping it brief, teehee.)

First off, taking off from Angie's blog post yesterday, those yellow shoes are your statement and your signature piece. I LOVE when you wear them.

Second, you obviously nailed your current style, but I would say you got "clever" down as well! The detail shots say it all: each piece could stand on its own, and together they create a fabulous look. It looks mighty effortless to me. :)

LOVE the background. You look so city chic.

I agree with Kristen. You nailed all three of your aspirational adjectives!

It looks like you've managed to do it all:
* fun
* bright
* eclectic
AND
* sophisticated
* effortless
* clever
Thank you for showing us your fab style

Wow, Hanna, you did so great, I love this outfit.

Super cute!!! Love it, especially the jacket, scarf and flats.

I agree that you've met ALL of your style descriptions. As always, you look fantastic - I love the color combinations and general playfulness of your style, which still looks pulled together and sophisticated. It's a difficult balance, and I think you've mastered it.

What kind of jacket are you wearing, if you don't mind sharing? I love it - it looks like a bluish gray - is that the case in real life?

Hanna, looks great!! I love that you wear scarves so well. The yellow shoes are so much fun! Good job!

This is so YOU, Hanna! (Big compliment.) Love the background; what a great idea for when my house is not camera-ready...

Adorable! Is your scarf tied in an Angie Knot? I played around with that yesterday and I think it looks like it?

Why did you block out your pretty face!

Love the outfit, Hanna! You did really well. It’s KILLER. I’d say you completely nailed 5 of the 6 adjectives perfectly. I don’t think this outfit is sophisticated though. It’s playful, cute, eclectic and uber fun, but not sophisticated. Does that make sense? I actually think you don’t want a sophisticated element to your style at this stage. I love your style as is and wouldn’t change a thing :0)

I was going to say what Angie said. I think sophistication is out of place at your (our :p) age. I don't want to look sophisticated at 25! A person can definitely be stylish and look fabulous without looking sophisticated...just like you do here! I can't even imagine trying to look sophisticated when I'm older. It is just not my personality. But personalities change, so who knows? I'm open to anything.

LOVE! I have scarf envy and the background idea is super. Really fab outfit..
I also wanted to mention that even though I dont comment often, I do follow your blog and love your fun and eclectic style, Hanna :)

*blush* you are all very, very kind.

kristen, of course those shoes had to make an appearance! at $12.99 from target i can't imagine a better wardrobe investment. I LOVE THEM, they literally seem to go with everything and make the most unexpected combinations pop!

christine, the jacket is a trapeze/swing jacket with a high (mandarin?) collar, from old navy. it was on sale for something like $8, it was my size, and it is such a gorgeous shade of charcoal gray i couldn't resist. it did have larger plastic black buttons though, which i didn't like, so i replaced them with these gray enamel ones from a thrift store blazer - i like them much better!

angie and maya, i think i see what you're saying, and now that i think about it, i wouldn't want to take the fun out of my outfits either - i enjoy putting together these combos too much! i guess by sophisticated, i mean that i want to appear more polished - i'd like to inject a little more structure into my look, without completely erasing the funk. i definitely don't want to look staid and aged before my time!

i'm glad everyone seems to like the background; i'm thinking for blogging purposes this could be MUCH more fun than seeing my messy apartment all the time! and angie, i couldn't help blocking out my face - i was NOT having a photogenic day :P

I love it Hannah! You've definitely nailed your current style, and it's a clever look too. I like how the shoes, scarf, and bracelets add the "Hannah" element to the equation. Nicely done!

Posted 7 months ago

thank you cathy :) i like this "hanna" element you mentioned, though i haven't figured out what that is!

i missed out mariannacecile in my previous reply: yes, that is indeed the infamous angie knot! i love the way it looks :)

Hanna, Angie and Maya took the words right out of my mouth! When I saw your outfit, I thought you definitely nailed fun and eclectic and bright and effortless! I thought about how you could change the outfit to make it more sophisticated if you wanted, but then I realized it just wouldn't be you. You have a fantastic youthful, try-anything element to your style that I just love, and if you tried to be very sophisticated at this stage, it would take something away from that wonderful part of your style. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think your style is perfect the way it is right now, and keep having fun, because it's such fun watching what you put together.

Hanna - awesome. I would add the word creative to the list you already have.

Wow hanna!!! I love this outfit - and the background of course!!! I am glad you are not going to take the fun out of your style. It help make you "you"!!!
