I wanted a rest from my pleather jackets (all 2 of them and so pulled out this boxy jacket from a few years ago that I haven't worn yet this year because I wasn't sure if it was too dated. I didn't get too many stares while walking thorough the mall, but want your input ladies. Does this jacket need to go?

I added this neclace as well, which I thought helped to brighten up the darkness of the black/dark jeans/dark shirt.

I agree--you look great. Earlier this week I saw similar jackets for sale at Nordstroms, that is, boxy, 3/4 sleeves.

It looks like a slightly a-line swing style jacket - nicely retro - and I agree- you've styled it well. It has my vote!

I had to check out a post with the word "apoplexy" in it. Absolutely not. The gray jacket is lovely.

thanks ladies- and yes Louise, it is a swing coat from about 3 or 4 years ago. I just didn't know with all the new leather and boyfriend looks if the swing coat was past it's prime. I've been hesitant to wear it, but now that I have 7 affirmations, I will don it with confidence
isn't it funny how much we second guess ourselves when it comes to our clothes?

In the January issue of Lucky, they style shorter, boxier jackets as layering pieces, advocating for them since they provide the room necessary to fit other stuff underneath. They focused on collarless styles, but I think yours would work as well. (See page 47.)

I was already thinking that it would be cute with a longer top underneath. Yesterday I threw it on over a longer light pink sweater and really liked that look too. (I think both the contrast of the light/dark, as well as the longer layer underneath really helped it out)
