Do you still really not like these?

So I think exactly zero people advised me to get these shoes and instead rather kindly pointed out a wide variety of good options for a casual walking shoe, but I just thought I would see how these are in real life, because my heart is telling me high-tops. Should I really just stop now and accept I am not a street boxer?

These photos are unstyled, and I am sick with a nasty cold. I only managed to shower for you all, but not more than that. I tried on several jeans because I wanted to see how the leg line and colors worked. I tended to leave one leg in and one out because I am not sure how I would wear them.

I want shoes for extremely casual schlepping around, but I still want something cute. You can give it to me straight. Tell me to get my head back on, if you need to. Maybe I am feverish.

Could I convince you of black?

Well if you love them, then you should rock them like you mean it, with attitude and enjoy them!

I like the black better than the white. The white ones look a little outdated in my opinion. I hope you feel better soon!

I'm torn.

I do like them best in 1,5, and 6. With the white jeans and the black, they seem a bit off.

I know that they look like gear, but just because something *looks* like gear, I'm not sure we need to automatically shun it. If you were in line in front of me at the grocery store dressed like this (nice fitting jeans, cute sweater, and these shoes, I wouldn't bat an eye. I'm thinking if you wear them really basic like this for running around, you'd be fine. Where you might run in to trouble is if you try to make an outfit out of them...,.. do you know what I mean? funky skirt, 80's shirt, and high top tennis might make me look askew and wonder what you are trying to say.

just my own random not-so-well-though-out thoughts.

I don't think they look too bad, but I think that's because I can't see the high-top part ... with the jeans they look just like casual shoes. If I saw you wear them with shorts or a skirt, I may give you a second glance, but they don't look "crazy" with the jeans.
I'll echo what Rita said, if you like them, you should go with them!

I do like them on you Scarlet. I gave up wearing white trainers because I felt they made my look bigger, you are lucky you have much daintier feet than I have.

I love high-tops. I would also go for black, but that's because I love black shoes. The white are just fine for sneaks.

I'm also wondering how the black would look, Scarlet. I like the white ones best with your jeans worn over them, but that defeats the purpose of high-tops, of course, sorry.

I believe that my initial impression of the white ones was that I liked their attitude :). They are retro and fun. I have a super-duper soft spot for black sneaks with white stripes, so I really love the black ones, but I think on you, the white ones look cool too.

I am sorry to hear about your nasty cold. Blech. Hope you have a nice snuggly afternoon/evening in bed with some hot tea and wake up feeling a teensy bit better tomorrow.

Guilty! I did not even click on the picture of these shoes when you first posted them.....but seeing the whole package, I think you can pull them off! I agree with Kim about them looking fine with jeans for running around. I like the eighties tongue hanging out too....the rest of your outfit looks modern and I think they're stylish in a retro sort of way.
BTW, you don't even look sick but I hope you feel better! Take care of yourself!

Oh, those are so fun! I think you pull them off really well. The only one I'm not crazy about is #6. They look a bit bulky under the jeans in that photo, or like the length is a little off?

Everything else looks super cute. I'm especially loving #1,2, and 4. Hope you feel better soon!

OH! I missed these the first time around, but I like them on you! Scarlet, they are very Eurohip. Whist in Europe, I always see tons of gals and ladies in super outfits--minimal and layered effectively and stylishly--with Adidas kicks on....

I saw in your initial thread that you were inspired by another woman with these (or similar) kicks? Care to share the photos?

Check out MY sneakers. Also, check my friend's zebra sneakers! They are waaay weirder than yours, and people don't even look at them on the streets. I like both colors, you really can't go wrong. Maybe it's because I'm European, but I think those are cool, funky, cheeky and modern in a good, sporty and casual way (see how many adjectives I can name in a row?)

Marley, I was actually convinced in the store that black was the way to go even though I had thought I wanted white, but Mr. Scarlet of all people said something like long live the 80’s and insisted I should go whole-hog tacky 80‘s American in white (he has a thing about Americans stereotypically wearing white sneakers and white socks in Europe) because if I wanted black I should really wear Converse according to him He also pointed out alternatively some nice Sambas in various colors (looking at you Lisa).

Heather--thanks, I love having a soundtrack for my life I don’t have photos--it was in real life. This woman though I think is one of those people who oozes inner rocker chic a bit regardless of exactly what she is wearing. Should probably be a warning to me when I am thinking of copying her.

Okay, hopefully black will be the clincher.

love them in white. love them with pants over...but then why get hi-tops?

I think you pull these look off really well in the white actually. I personally have never seen black sneaks styled right so if you get them, please post.

I'm not digging them, but I definitely have a bias against white sneakers. They always jump right out at me, but not in a fab way. I like the black much better.

I'd be interested in seeing how the black version looks on you, however the white is not bad.

I hope you feel better soon! My kiddos were sick last week. (Note to self: when daughter complains of headache right before you get in the car to pick up older siblings at school, BRING something for her to vomit in. It was 100 degrees outside and not so nice smelling inside my car. AACK!)

AJ, Oh no! How old is your daughter? I think little kids don't know how to express feeling nauseous. When I was little I would say my neck hurts, and it led to rather the same sort of incident.

BJ - I just looked up that video and am feeling 80's nostalgia. it may have been bad taste, but it was fun.

It's difficult because this is so far away from my style. I would wear those to the gym and to play with the kids in the park but not daily! I prefer flats!

Scarlet, it isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think I am reacting to a combo of your slouchy style (which I am a huge fan of), your frame, and the very retro-sporty-boyish pieces like the sneakers. In the wrong combo you could look like one of those ladies that wears their sons' outgrown hand me downs. Maybe this is a personal reaction for me because I have an almost 20-year-old that I raised during his teenage years and was guilty of wearing his outgrown castoffs to save money. I just looked frumpy-- but that doesn't mean you will.
