What is appropriate for an evening wedding in Mexico in December on the beach?

I have several choices, my instinct is always to dress up but I have a casual option as well. The choice are:

Structured white strapless cotton sundress w/ black flower print
Black ruffle mini dress with mesh cap sleeves
Sapphire textured (shiny) sack dress with halter neck

Do you have any suggestions for what would be best? Any idea what my husband should wear

I do not know the weather in December in Mexico nor have I experienced an evening wedding on the beach. My opinion may be worthless but I like the idea of your first outfit and rummaged for this blog which I think may help

My dad loves Puerto Vallarta! He goes with his brother and some of their friends every year for a golf holiday He says that the restaurants there are the best in Mexico.

Since the wedding is in the evening (including the ceremony, right?), I vote for the blue one. The colour is gorgeous, and just says "destination wedding" to me. I'm not a fan of shine in the daytime, especially in tropical climates- it can look too harsh, sometimes. But that colour, on a beach at sundown? Fab!

My one other tip would be to wear flats! You don't want to be sinking into the sand, and heels would likely drive you crazy. That's probably another reason to go with the blue dress, since it's the shortest- best for flats!

My second choice is the black and white one- I love the print. You look gorgeous in the black one, but it seems the least festive to me, given the location.

I'm totally with Ele. First choice is the blue. Gorgeous! On the beach, you'll probably even want to go barefoot and then have flats for any part of the wedding that's not on the beach. Second choice is the white floral. The black is gorgeous but too structured for a beach wedding. Sounds like a fabulous time!

I'm in agreement with Ele & ALecia. Blue or b&w. A bit more "fun" and festive than the black, esp for a beach wedding. Hope you have an amazing time!

My favourite is the black and white but i can see what the others are saying about the blue shiny one being good for evening x

I like the black and white strapless frock best. Your strong shoulder line looks best in this silhouette. Hands down!

Thank you everyone so much for the input, it is much appreciated! I am going to return the black dress, and take both the white and sapphire dress with me on the trip.

I am also going to get a new pair of flats to go with them to wear on the beach.

I'll decide when I get there and wear one dress to the wedding and the other to the girls night out before the wedding! That way I get to keep them both

I like both the blue and the black/white also. My first choice would be the blue one for the wedding-- unless the wedding is supposed to be a bit more on the casual side.

Can I ask where you got the blue dress?

Hi Queenie, I got both the blue dress and the black dress at Ross, a discount store here in the Seattle area. Unfortunately it's not a brand name so it might not be easy to find unless you have Ross in your area.

I gave the black dress to my mom, I think it will be cute on her for the opera.

Louise - I will definitely take pics in Mexico!
