So I had my first date tonight. It did not start well. Originally we agreed to meet on the waterfront because he was taking the ferry over. I was walking down the Pike Street Hill Climb, a huge set of stairs connecting Pike Place Market to the waterfront. I was 3/4 of the way down when he called and wanted to change locations. He actually drove all the way around and wanted to meet in Pioneer Square which had easier parking. I turned around and walked back up the hill climb and walked the eight blocks to Pioneer Square. He was then very late.
We had dinner at a nearby restaurant. It was interesting and going relatively well, until we got on the topic of art. He saw no point in art for the sake of art. He didn't like the glass art of a local very famous glass artist Dale Chihuly ( http://www.chihuly.com/ ) because he doesn't make things like vases which you can use. I mentioned Kandinsky as one of my favorite artists. He asked if he could survive in the woods? I mentioned that I liked opera. He asked if the opera singer could also flip burgers.
I think he really liked me. But I don't know if I could date someone with such a opposite view of me on art and beauty. I didn't even mention fashion.
What do you think?
