cobbling together spring outfits with winter clothes

I haven't had a chance to get my warm weather clothes out of storage yet. That, along with the extremely variable weather, has been kind of a challenge.

I know knit bottoms are usually frowned upon but I like the ease of this skirt. I struggle with the top, though. I think I'm getting rid of it. It's given me trouble one too many times.

This is a so-so (IMO) farmer's market outfit. I need new jeans for flats but other things have taken priority. I'm thinking I may need to move it up soon as it is beginning to frustrate me.

The blouse in this picture is also being considered for the give-away/swap pile. It always looks so frumpy, I think.

You've seen this top before. I think it may work better with a skirt than with pants, but I'm not sure.

You look so pulled together in everything. I love your work wardrobe. That green abstract dress is awsome, and the last outfit..blue sweater and cream skirt looks great on you as well.

I don't think the blouse looks frumpy at all. You look like a pro at this.

My favorites were the work outfits ... the gorgeous dress, the pencil skirt outfit, and the last picture. The ruffle detail on the neckline was especially nice as were your nude heels that make your legs so long.

Something has changed about your style and I love it. More color, for sure.
The green tank under the khaki jacket is really fun.
The dress with lavender cardi is gorgeous.
I love the way you have belted the cardi and vest outfits with the thin black belt. Lovely touch. And you look terrific in that soft yellow. Love it with the grey. Don't think the top is frumpy, especially the way you have styled it.
The white skirt and soft blue top may be my favorite. So feminine and extremely flattering.

Kyle, thank you so much for commenting. It means a lot to me as 1) I love your style (I miss seeing your outfits) and 2) because I think you have been an influence in this shift. A while back you mentioned that you think I dress older than my age, which I agree with. I had thought that for a long time but had not been able to move into action to change it. That kind of kicked me in the butt and got me moving.

With the help of the forum, I think I'm getting to a place that both reflects my style preferences which are really kind of influenced by the 20s and 60s and more current fashion trends. I'll probably never be really trendy but I'm feeling much more "now" these days. The forum has also given me the courage to try things that I wouldn't have felt comfortable doing in the past.

Wow, I love how you manage to have a totally different look every day. Great variation, and especially the work outfits are very fab.

My favorites are the green dress (what a statement piece) and the last outfit. Those light colours of the last outfit look fantastic on you! Also very spring-appropriate.

This inspires me to go try something new tomorrow too

Alecia, I think you had a terrific week - I definitely see the style evolution that Kyle is talking about! I am seeing more fun elements and loads more color! That first top is so pretty - the color is great & it seems to fit you really well. What don't you like about it? I also really like the abstract print dress with the lavender cardigan. I don't think the white shirt if frumpy - I like how you have layered it.

Great outfits, Alecia! I especially liked the last skirt and top combo - very soft and flattering.

The first top looks quite flattering as well - what's the problem with it? Do you have to constantly adjust it? I know that for me sometimes the issue with scoop necks is that I flash too much cleavage when I bend over, but a close-fitting cami has helped with that problem.

Love your graphic green dress! Very fun and fashionable.

Scoop neck on your top didn't seem too low but maybe it slides throughout day? I have a few tops like that. Constantly adjusting them is not fun.

Alecia, I don't really have anything to add to what Kyle said, but I just wanted to tell you that you look wonderful, and I also enjoyed watching the evolution of your style. And another vote to keep the blouse! I really like that outfit.

I'm overwhelmed by the positive response. Thanks everyone. I think I've noted another key difference. As of late, I actually have fun thinking about new looks instead of feeling like it is a chore. Again, I credit you ladies for that.
