Reading Angie's blog today, I am wondering if I should add a pair of boots or booties in a fun color (other than black, gray, brown), to add interest to my current palette, which is fairly monochromatic? I am finding I dress a lot in blacks, grays, whites, adding color interest with a bag and/or blouse.

You can see examples on current "recent outfits" thread here:

... and also bear in mind that my winter coat is cobalt.

Whatever I choose has to go with the ponte knit pants, not just jeans, because I am expecting to live in these this season!

Boots vs booties: I have a lot of boots already, but not a lot of booties (just chocolate brown, and charcoal gray metallic oxfords). I fear that if I get boots in a color, it will chop my legs up too much and stumpify me?

My initial thought was to find a pair of black booties to wear as an alternative to the metallic SW's. I wear those constantly all fall and winter. (They are great shoes - I just like to be able to rotate.) Or, alternatively, I've been looking at flat, black-patent brogues. (Tried on a pair recently - DH thought they were adorable - loved the menswear vibe - but feared they made my feet look "too small" ??)

One caveat: I do not like boots that hit on the ankle - like those shown on today's blog. Annoy me to no end. I need them instead to hit low, like the SW's do, at base of the ankle.

Suggestions?
