before I buy, can you confirm that this jacket is amazing?

I was browsing blazers on etsy, and came across this gem. It's my size, and $26 including shipping!

To further convince myself that it's not am impulse buy (I'm on the market for blazers, and it's my colors) can I get some other opinions? It's stunning, right?

It's pretty and those are certainly your colors. I'm not a huge fan of the closure, personally, but that's just up to taste. Go for it.

Maya, I saw you were the first to respond and I was afraid you would hate it because of the colors. So thanks for not hating it!

I'm honestly not a big fan of the closure either, but I'm willing to overlook it (or possibly replace it, once I can see how it's attached to the fabric...)

I was going to make the same observation as Maya. The closure looks a bit odd to me. Also, are you the same size as the woman in this picture? This jacket is a bit too tight for her and hence if so, might also be a little too tight for you.

I love the shape, fabric, and color, but I agree with Maya about the closure--maybe it's just the photo, but it seems a little too delicate for the tweedy fabric. But if it doesn't bother you, then I say go for it as well.

Bella, I'm the same size as the measurements she listed for the jacket. If it is too tight, I will DEFINITELY remove the closure and wear it open.

Here's a picture of the closure. I think it wouldn't be too hard to remove.

Great colors for you!

If you can't replace the closure, then I'd try a bronze paint pen...it will knock the impact waaay back.

Edit: I see you already explored that option. Seeing the closeup pictures really highlight the lovely colors.

And I don't hate your colors at all! I love pastels and muted earthy tones...just not on me. They look rich and beautiful on the right person and in the right combinations though.

The only colors I really hate universally are from the khaki/beige family. Not warm caramels and rich taupes, but a certain family of colors that look glaringly similar to my kitty's hairballs :\

I'm not sure, Kate. I would have to see this on you. Without a closure, I wonder if it would resist staying closed, so it would sort of hang funny.

My only worry, since it always happens to me, is that if it doesn't fit exactly, the front will hang open too much. I've ordered open front jackets that seem like exactly the right measurements, but still gape open. That said, it's not a huge amount of $, so if you are in love, it's part of the thrill of online buying!

Oh, I don't think you should remove the closure. I bet it wouldn't be too hard to create a new one. Perhaps a snap closure or hook-n-eye.

Love the jacket, and agree with the consensus on the fastener. Is it returnable if the fit isn't fab? I find fit on jackets to be very tricky (but that may be just me).

I think it's gorgeous! I actually like the closure. The only thing about blazers is that you never know about fit. Do they offer returns?

I'm new here so excuse me for jumping in. Yeah, I'd change that closure. It doesn't match the jacket. Also, have you thought about what other items in your wardrobe that could go with this? I love bolero type jackets also, but there are only certain things in my wardrobe that I can wear them with. The shape of the jacket (the shortness and tightness) would slightly worry me.

The jacket has been ordered!

Unfortunately there are no returns, but I'm hopeful that I will be able to adjust the fit based on how I modify the closure. I'll keep everyone posted!

In terms of how to wear it, I am imagining it will work with jeans and v-neck tops (and maybe some scoop necks), with a couple of my dresses, and with some of my skirts. Most of my tops are fitted and simple, which I think will work well with the jacket.

Also, being the designer-inept person I am, I completely neglected to mention that it's an Ingwa Melero from Bergdorf Goodman. I have absolutely no idea what year it's from, but found that they've produced some similar jackets before, sometimes even with that same closure: http://www.ingwamelero.com/images/news73.jpg

The fit of the jacket is amazing! It looks like it was made for you!
The fit is not dated, but it makes difficult to use that jacket in a casual style..

I like the jacket with the closure - and if the designer has used that closure on other jackets (as you stated) there is no way that I would change it out!
