At last I got time to post my artistic challenge. This is the first time I am taking part in any challenge here!
I have selected one of Van Gogh's paintings: I love his works and he is using bright colors - just perfect for summer:
Next I had to find a painting which had colors from my wardrobe - that was tough. I suddenly realized how limited my wardrobe is! Anyway "Wheatfiled with cypresses" seemed to fit the bill - I have green blue and white pieces I could work with.
My biggest difficulty was to find something yellow as I do not own anything yellow YET. Finally I remembered this old jacket which i was thinking of discarding - and here we go.

So how did I do?

Wow Sveta! I love this creative take on interpreting art. And I love Van Gogh. I especially like the jacket- glad you didn't get rid of it, it's the same color as the wheat.

I love seeing the challenge outfits, and these that are inspired by art are really interesting to me. I like your shoes; I wish that I could see them better. Perhaps you'll post some more outfits with them?

Thanks for the comments. Actually I liked this challenge very much. I think it is usefull to look for dressing inspiration from art or nature can teach us so much about color and texture mixing. I think I will do another one as well - just for fun!

Haha, I also wanted to fo a Van Gogh one based on Starry Starry night but had the same prob - not one sole yellow thing in my entire wardrobe!!! I've always found yellow that is too bright washes out my really pale complexion...

I purchased a bright yellow bag from a thrift shop and found some bright yellow earrings so I might give it a whirl!

I love what you said about looking for style inspiration in art/nature etc. This in fact will be the very subject of my new blog - finding style inspiration in the things that inspire you, as an individual. This might be nature, art, music, religion, animals, the people around you...basically you don't just need to look in the fashion magazines or at the celebrities to find great style inspiration - it can come from all around you! Like, the texture of wheat in the field in Van Gogh's painting, or the colours, or the soulful lyrics in a song...I could go on for hours but that will be a subject for my blog!

I love the turquoise and wheat colored blazer. I must add that the color of the door you are standing in front of adds so nicely to the whole outfit. Van Gogh would be inspired!

Tara, I think bag and earring are enough to add yellow so give it a try. I also have another idea for Starry Night and I found another yellow item in my wardrobe - it is just out of season now but just for the fun of it I will use it.
Your blog sounds intriguing, I would love to read it. I was thinking for a blog of mine own but struggling to find what to write about. Maybe you will inspire me!
Turquoise pendant is from a small jewelery cart in our mall - I do not remember the name. I just like real stones and silver - that was a Christmas present from my husband (but I selected it - the only way to get a satisfactory gift:-))

Jean, very funny about the door. Wait, when we finish our kitchen reno and remove all the mess from the living room I will do my pictures there - and it is very orange!

You look great in turquoise and white. The whole outfit is kind of magical, I love this idea of using the masters for color inspiration.

Wonderful! And another van Gogh, how cool is that. What I love about this challenge is that it is really challenging how we normally think of wearing colours together in our outfits.

I love the white and turquoise together they really 'pop'. Be careful when eating chocolate with the white pants I wore mine yesterday and was sooooo careful all day then at 9pm I got the muchies and had a chocolate cornetto.... you can guess the rest! They've been through the wash twice with stain slayer and oxyclean thankfully it's a minute stain and it has faded but heck it was the 1st time I wore them! x

Taylor, thanks. I hope my request was not out of line( emphasis was on "critique" part, I did not doubt you are always honest
I like to mix colors together. I think playing with colors was my way to adding that "edge" instead of trends which I did not pay much attention to before this blog.
I even had some women at work to comment on how I am brave to wear and mix colors when they are mostly black or neutral
San, that is tiger eye stone in the ring so it is kind of yellow. Actually it is pretty close to the jacket color.
Loise, thanks for the chocolaty tip. Unfortunately these jeans are going back to the store as Angie confirmed they were a bad fit :-(. Still on the lookout for the right ones...
