Hi Everyone!

I mentioned in another thread that the Austin YLFers went out today, and I wanted to post what I wore, since several of you asked about my Anne Fontaine blouse I got. Patience and I joked that we sort of switched styles, because hers has more embellishment, and the one I got is pretty plain. As part of my fashion resolution, I decided I needed to get more cake, and less frosting in my wardrobe.

Anyway, so this is the shirt, and I layered it under a pretty plain black dress I got a couple of weeks ago. Sarah convinced me to get the dress when she saw me try it on. I was kind of bored with it (what, no ruffles?!) but it's actually turned out to be one of my best purchases, because I can do so much with it. Thanks Sarah!

Anyway, feedback is appreciated. What do you think of the white belt? I couldn't decide between that and a black or red belt. I thought the red belt and red bag might be too much. It was warm here today (about 76), so I thought white would be okay, even though it's winter.

Wow Ana, I love, love that outfit on you! Absolute killer! Both the blouse and the dress are killer! I can not seem to find words to describe how amazing you look.

I actually think it works great with white belt, and you could try some metallic or animal print too. Red with be great too, but than I would carry a bag that's not red.

Agree that a red belt would be fun but not with the red bag. To funk it up, a zebra belt could be cool.

I have one question.... do you find it inconvenient to go shopping dressed like this? I mean, having to take off a belt and a dress and a blouse to try on clothes? If I'm going clothes shopping, I always choose clothes that are easy to take off and put back on.

uh make that two questions....Can you (or anyone) explain to me when a high vamp shoe works with a dress/skirt?

Nicole--yes! Shopping in that outfit WAS inconvenient, which was partly the point. I didn't really want to try anything on because then I will just want it, and I need to stick to my shopping plan right now and buy accessories and basics, hee hee.

The reason I think the oxfords work with the dress is the tights. I wouldn't wear these shoes with a dress or skirt without tights on as well. It makes it more of a clean line, rather than breaking up my leg the way wearing them without tights would. I might go with a higher vamp shoe bootie without tights IF it's a light color that is close to my skintone, because there again, I'm kind of creating a long unbroken line. That's why a lower vamp shoe works better with skirts and dresses--visually, there's more unbroken leg. Does that make sense? It might not be an actual rule, but it's kind of a personal rule for me that I try to follow (I've figured out I can break it, but only occasionally, with the right shoe).

I definitely want to try boots with the dress as well--I think the Frye Harness boots, or those boots Laura got would be really nice! And the suggestion of an animal print belt is great! Zebra sounds really interesting.

Yep, Parisian was what came to mind here as well.
That's a BEAUTIFUL blouse Ana (I love the cuffed sleeves!) and the dress is delicious too.

Ana, I didn't even think about the fact that your belt was white and it is winter. It was 76 degrees yesterday. I think it was the best choice but it's great that you've got so many ways to change it up. You looked sooo fab. I really want you to get the cuff links too.

Angie, the shoes are definitely only about 3 hour walking shoes, which is just about how long our shopping trips last. I could probably wear them to work on the weekends, since I can sit/stand as I please and hardly do any walking, but definitely not to school during the week. They were pretty inexpensive (got them at DSW), because I wanted to try out the style. I think I would get a lot of use out of heeled oxfords, so I might look for a comfort brand next fall, or possibly in the sales going on. Right now I'm in the market for some comfortable wedges or something I can wear to school with skirts and dresses. I'm finding that even a small heel seems to look better with them than rounded toe flats do (on me, anyway).

Patience, I love the bee cufflinks! I love the flower ones too. I might have to save up and get a pair. They're accessories, so they count, right?
