Sterling, the training has gone pretty well -- I leave next week, and I'm about as ready as I'm going to be. I've put almost 1000 miles on my bike since I started training this spring. Now to see how I handle long consecutive days on the bike! The good thing is that the days will not be like my training rides, where I barely even get off the bike (I only take very short breaks for water and snacks). It's more like you bike 10-20 miles to the next town, stop, partake in some local refreshments and take in the sights, and then hop back on the bike to the next town, where you repeat the same practice. So a few short rides in a day, rather than one long 65-75 mile ride.
You all are so kind! Jaime and Naz, it's weird, I know my weight is up from a couple of years ago, and some clothes are tighter in the waist than they were (ever since the hysterectomy, I have a little more in the tummy that I didn't have before), but it doesn't seem to show much in photos. I know my legs are more toned from all the biking, so maybe that's what we're seeing. Cheryle, thanks for the comments about my arms, but trust me, from other angles, my arms are nothing to brag about -- I should really be lifting weights or doing something to work out my triceps, which flap in the wind if I raise my arm.
I enjoyed this outfit more than I thought I would -- I don't know why, but I have always had a slight "frumpy" association with these shorts. Perhaps because of the length and the fact that they are very high contrast with my skin and cut me off at a potentially unflattering spot. I was pleasantly surprised that this looked better in photos than I thought it would, so I expect I'll be more eager to repeat this outfit. Always good to have a successful FFBO summer outfit.
