3 WIWs: symphony, Easter, and work

1: WIW 04.07.12 for date night to dinner/symphony/froyo. Sorry for the terrible picture quality - that's what happens when you take your photo in the middle of the night - but I wanted to document the first wearing of the mod dress. The tights are actually forest green and the boots are my black suede cowboy boots.
Wearing: Anthro dress, Gap tights, Sam Edelman boots, Etsy pendant

2-4: WIW 04.08.12 for Easter Sunday w/ fiance's family. I tried on a few different outfits and the fiance picked this skirt with the top untucked. He says it's appropriately Easter-y because it reminds him of a Ukrainian Easter egg! I realized here that I currently own no light-colored tights and no pumps. Oops. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise, though, as 5 minutes after taking these photos, I tripped on some cobblestones outside my building and ended up sporting a big bandaid on my knee and an ankle bandage, so at least the dark tights and boots covered up the worst of it.
Wearing: Nanette Lepore skirt, handknit top, italian leather purse (can't remember the brand right now), etsy jewelry, Dolce vita boots, Dorothy Perkins tights, Anthro trench, ??? pashmina.

5-6: WIW 04.09.12 today at lab. I love this handknit sweater dress but the neckline is a little high, straight, and wide for my short neck so I usually narrow and lower it with something like the pendant I am wearing today. I also tried something different today by layering my cowl-neck orange polka dot tee under the dress like a mini shawl collar. Does it work?

I like the t layered under the knit dress - plus it doesn't look too bulky so should be comfortable. You look great in skirts/dresses - nicely done!

Your midnight picture turned out quite well, I think! I love that outfit, but I'm so sorry to hear about your fall. The dark tights saved the day, and now you know to get out there and hunt for light tights and shoes, so it's all good. I love your jewelry in these photos too. So interesting and not "mass produced". The skirt in #2 is so pretty, and I like the top untucked like you wore it. Your hand knit dress is just gorgeous, and I find it quite flattering on you, despite your qualms about the neckline. Have you ever thought of wearing your hair up to compensate for a high neckline? It might be worth a try.

Claire, good idea to try wearing the hair up! Now that it's actually long enough to put up without random bits sticking up, I will definitely give it a try. Of course, I have exactly one updo that I can handle without pain (my hair is too heavy/slick for most updos) and even then I usually end up taking it out halfway through the day...

As a fellow knitter, I am so impressed by your handknit dress. It really looks fantastic on you and I'm impressed at how well it holds its shape and shows the pattern. Out of curiosity, which yarn is it?

I find it so hard to style my handknits, so I really enjoy it when you post yours.

Sylvie, the yarn is Blue Moon Fiber Arts Woobu in the thraven colorway. It's one of my favorite yarns and comes in a ginormous skein with great yardage.

Outfit 2 is so colorful and very you. I like the black tights and boots with this it gives the outfit an edge and stops it from Being too cutesy.
