3 pencil skirts - YouLookFab Forum

Hi, this is my first real post since Ana introduced me to the forum a few weeks ago. I'm working on putting together outfits on my own, and I welcome feedback!

This is a new skirt that I got from Talbots and the denim jacket that I already had from the Gap. I'm thinking I would like a dark red shell to go with this instead of the teal one I have.

I like this outfit, and the shoes are an experiment. Here's a link to these boots: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7582614/c/6.html I don't have any tights or hose right now, but I'm thinking I might like some brown or black tights with this skirt. If I get black tights, I can wear my black wedge heels that you can see in the next set of pics.

This is what I wore to work today. It was very comfortable, and I would definitely repeat this outfit.

You look incredible. I have never been a skirt girl, but I am so inspired to attempt this look now! I *really* like the Talbots skirt. Lovely.

I really love the talbots skirt too, although it's a slightly odd mix with the denim jacket. That said, I like the boots and skirt in the second pic, but I think that the ankle boots are not a good height to wear with skirts for you, and the effect is worsened by the strap across the ankle of the boot. Slightly lower vamped booties or oxfords combined with same-color hose might work. They're still cute low heel casual heels though, which can be hard to find, but not such a great choice for skirts. I really hope that helps you

hmm... looking at the boots again I realized that the strap is not wear I imagined it was, so that will make them a bit more versatile, but they're still not best choice for skirts. I like those black wedges.

The first outfit is my favorite of the bunch, but the others are really great too. The booties throw off the second one, but my eye isn't used to the look so I could be wrong about it. I like the length of the first skirt better than the third one, but I like having various skirt lengths in my closet, so I wouldn't change the hem.

I'm going to be a decenter, I love the booties, adding hose in the same colour will elongate your leg line and make them more versatile. I also think you look amazing in skirts.

Really like the pencil skirt shape on you! It works! I enjoyed the outfit that had the most contrast, with the yellow sweater. I can see why you liked the denim/black outfit--shapes are great, it looks easy to wear--but I think you would have more visual interest mixing black with brighter color, and denim with something that provides more contrast.

Liked the ankle boots too--I'm having fun with ankle boots with skirts this year--I wear mine with matching tights, so there's color continuity between leg and foot.

The skirts look great on you, and I love the way you mixed the dressy with the casual in wearing the denim jackets. That last tie blouse is adorable too. I'm not sold on the booties with the skirt, though; with tights they should look better, but right now they chop your leg at the wrong place. Compare your leg line with that to how it looks in the wedge heels, and I think you will see the difference.

The skirts look fantastic on you! I am in agreement with the other ladies that the booties just don't seem to be the best shoe for you when wearing skirts.

I totally agreee with Kirsten! The boots chop your leg, try it with dark opaque tights (same color as your boots)

Margaret picked all this stuff out by herself! She just sent me the photos. I LOVE the mustard cardigan with the ink blue and black silk cami underneath. The color combo is really striking! I can't wait to see the booties with some tights. I know we will be able to pick some up at Nordies on Saturday.
