Haha! Diana, I sure relate to the pants rise thing.

not sure if true pear because of my shoulders, but I'm bottom-heavy so:

...you get those pants you're trying on over the thighs/booty, and the waistband gap is so wide you could stuff your purse in there. And shoes too, why not!

...when you finally manage to get the jeans over the hips, only to find the two of you can fit in what's left around the waist

^
Haha no yours is better!

When the zipper on your hip-length winter jacket rips out at the bottom because your hips, when you sit (while driving, for example), put too much strain on it. Aargh!

And when it's like a miracle to find a skirt or pants which simultaneously fits your waist and your hips!

When your hip pockets won't lay flat but gape open like a pair of mouths.

Oh yeah, the coat thing - I think I probably prefer jackets to coats if for no other reason than they're easier to fit - anything that's supposed to go over the hips really needs to be a bigger size, but then it's too big in the shoulders and long in the sleeves!

When you walk straight past the pencil skirts/sheath dresses without even looking at them.

When you well-muscled calves laugh in the face of tall boots with skinny sheaths.

...when you can't actually *use* any of your pants pockets because there's no room to fit anything in there, and you've sewn half of them shut anyway!

Loool! this thread is hilarious, and I agree 100%!
I want to say,you know you're a pretty pear when you want to wear pencil skirts casually but can never quite get rid of the bombshell vibe.

...you avoid slanted pockets in the front because they never lie flat

...and you avoid sparkles on pockets for the back because you really don't need to add anything extra to showcase the rump

You love the 80s because there were shoulder pads in EVERY garment, from camis to blouses to blazers and of course, outerwear. And you used to layer the shoulder pads to the MAX. Three shoulder pads layered in one outfit = instant hourglass!!

...when you buy tops online with ease but never dare to buy pants (and usually regret it when you do).

..when you feel the fashion industry is against you...first with a decade of low rise jeans/slacks...OMG...lets but the waistline at the widest part of me! and then with a decade of skinnies that hey, just are NOT gonna go over those thighs, hips, and bottom, and if they do, turn you into instant lollipop. Thank goodness for straight legs with a decent rise!

When you have to buy two-piece swimsuits because finding a one-piece that fits your hips/bottom without falling off your smaller chest is a feat you haven't managed since age 12. But ...

... regular bikini bottoms look like grandma-panties on the hanger yet actually expose an alarming amount of skin once they're on your body; and

... low-rise bikini bottoms? Omg. That's headed into pornographic territory, right there.

This was cathartic. Thank you.

I'm chucklng to myself because one of my DDs is a pear. She's embraced her body type but struggles to find styles that look good on her.

You know your a pretty pear when...

You see a tutorial on pinterest about how to wear a dress as a skirt and the first you think is "Not in this lifetime"

Wow. Is that actually possible for anyone, even with a knit dress?

I am always amused by *lyn and others' talk of wearing their simple tops turned around backward to alter the neckline. Uh, yeah, that's not happening for me.

This thread really put a smile on my face. I guess I'm not the only one.
