Aw, thanks you all! I am already picturing winter outfits with my tall purple Docs! But for now, this dress is Hawai'i-bound!

I am going to start a separate post on the drop-waist look and when/why it works. I had no idea at all it would work on me.

As for my legs, it's ONLY because of YLF that I feel comfortable showing them off - my family always laughed at them because they are so skinny!

Pffft... meanwhile, my family warns of butts getting too big and thighs getting too wide. Wished for skinny legs many times! Rock those gams out in the Hawaiian sun!

Just had to chime on too and say how great this looks on you. So many ways to style it too.

BEYOND BELIEF Awesome! Una, I think the minor gods of shopping are making it up to you for not granting your dress wishes more often!

And please, never mind your family, stop hiding those legs. (Hey, if I listened to mine early on, my hair would still be up in braids round my head or at least doubled up, and my skin scrubbed raw in an attempt to be 'wheatish' than I was meant to be!)

I like the dress! Also, I could not help but notice your shoes. I am searching for a neutral (preferrably fleshtone) versatile shoe that is both comfortable and appealing. May I ask what type/brand/color your shoes are in the picture? I like them... thank you.

melsreturn, I think Una's shoes are Tsubo's. I know she owns a pair, just not positive these are them http://www.tsubo.com/womens-ac.....cgid=women

That's a stunning dress on you!!!!

I really loved this. I imagine myself wearing this dress with tights and boyfriend blazer in winter. I am in love with this.
I love this on you. Thank god its unreturnable incase you changed your mind for such beautiful dress.
So flattering on you.

Score! What a cool dress! I love the way the print graduates from black and white at the top to colors at the bottom. I had to look really hard to see the drop waist because it looked like a sheath to me at first. It's a very pretty length on you and makes your legs look shapely. Your son is adorable and has the BEST spikey haircut. Love it! You both have such engaging smiles.

LOVE IT.You look great.

No styling advice, but 34th-ing the observation that your legs are awesome. I really love this cute, breezy dress and it fits you so well. Your son is adorable. I love that pic of the two of you!

Not reading any other responses. Holy cow I LOVE IT on you.

Sooo cool. You can winterize it with a jacket, tights and boots too, and wear it as is when you go to HI, CA, or visit your family on the east coast.

FABBBBBBB!!!!

With legs like yours I would wear it all the tiem...(perhaps sleep in it, too:-))

melsreturn, they are the Tsubo Acreas, as Mo said. They are supercomfortable and the only heels I own. The back is actually not attached - it's a wide heel strap. They get rave reviews and are well worth the money.

You guys, I am SO overwhelmed by the flattering leg comments. I really spent so much of my life hating my legs because of comments from my family (who really don't mean any harm, but as Manidipa said, can say hurtful things in the name of stating "facts"). You all have helped me to see that it's okay to show them and even emphasize them, scarred and skinny as they are. That is so freeing, and I don't even know how to express the gratitude I feel about it.

Thanks for letting me know. I did a search on them. Are they the caramelish brown color? They blend in wonderfully with your skin tone. (I am very fair, they would probably just look brown on me).

I had to go back and look at your picture to see what you meant by your legs. They did not stand out in anyway to me when I first saw your picture. When I went back a second and then again a third time, I still cannot see it. I think they are just the right size for you.

But I have come to learn that each person has a thing(s) about their body that they hate and love. I used to be obese, and deal with lots of loose skin issues. people look at me and say "but you look fine" and in my heart, I know what I really look like under clothes... and what I could look like if it had not been for the obesity. I've been around ladies who were ten pounds overweight and their struggle felt just as real to them as my 135 extra pounds did to me... its all a matter of perspective, I guess...

Back to you, now. Your legs are attractive, I hope you can learn to love and celebrate them!

This is a Home Run!!! Can you tell I am watching baseball.

Absolutely love the dress on you! And those legs!

melsreturn, you are so right about body issues. Thanks for your kind words.

These are the medium brown. I just saw them on sale in a lovely light grey on Amazon, I think. Really versatile shoes!

Wowza!! I can't bring myself to read 45 comments, but my quick scrolling shows overwhleming love for this dress -- and I TOTALLY agree!!

Oh this makes me wish I was an IT

SO fab, so versatile, so UNA

MNsara, I don't think this is an IT dress. In fact, I'm trying to figure out why it works; it's not the shoulders, since it doesn't hang. Why does drop-waist work? I'm not sure where it can be found online, but it is really nice and worth a try. It just pulls on and it's made of an easy stretchy fabric.

I think drop waist works better for an IT than a *ripe* pear I feel like I distort the nice straightish lines of a drop waist with my pearness. . .

Anyway, fab, fab, fab dress on you AND how fun that you knew it right away!
