What do you all think of this skirt for me?

Today is the last day I can return it.
(Totally lost track of time, oops!)

Great construction. Nice fabric.

Is it me??

I love the idea of creating Modern Outlander. And... I'm not sure if this skirt shape is great on me or not. Straight or tapered skirts are usually what I wear and prefer on myself.

Pros:

"Modern Outlander" vibe
nice construction
neutral tartan
thigh slit for ease and sensuality

Cons

might be difficult to alter due to pleating
wearing smallest size offered very comfortably and it's not even fall/winter yet -- meaning, this could become too large by autumn/winter (I'm actively losing weight)

All my winter sweaters and blouses are tucked away, so I tried it on with a summer sweater.

Yay? Nay?

This is a GORGEOUS skirt on you.
But.
I voted "nay" because of the fit issue. HOW annoying would it be to pull it out in fall and find that you've spent part of your budget on something that was too big and you never even got to wear.
Reassess when you know what size you'll be when it's time to actually wear the skirt.

I absolutely love this. Possibility of it not fitting later is the only downside, but that could be true of almost anything you buy that fits you now.

I agree with SarahD8 100%. Great skirt but if there is a very good probability you will lose weight and not get to wear it what is the point.

I love this style, but I also voted nay because of the sizing issue. Also, I don't like the buckles, which look like vinyl on my screen. I think you can find this style elsewhere in the fall when you will be ready to wear it. There are a hundred on Poshmark in a wealth of plaids, for example.

It is so gorgeous and I just hate to let it go!! But I also agree about the sizing issue. That's what makes me think returning is best.

Maybe I'll find something similar down the road?? I really want a long tartan skirt, so will have to see finds me down the road. I've also considered sewing one. So we will see

Roberta, good eye on the buckles. The faux leather is rather vinyl looking, despite the rest of the skirt being awesome.

What the others said. I LOVE it on you, but if you are going down in size, it will be hard to alter.

Suz, that's exactly what concerns me. I don't see how anyone could easily take it in with all of the pleats. It will either cost a lot or no one will do it, is my guess. Such a bummer because I love it! Aw well, I'm hoping a similar skirt exists down the road??

I agree with Angie, I'd say return it. I think it would be hard to alter it nicely.

What happens if you just do up the buckles tighter?

I say this because that has always worked for me, and not because I can never say no to tartan, especially in a classic style like this

I agree with return option - even though it is fab on you. It may seem "too much outlander" after a while - to my eye at least.

L'Abeille, the buckles are decorative only, unfortunately! I wish they worked.

slim cat, oh that's a very good point about "too much outlander". I didn't consider that. I dont' htink I would ever grow tired of tartan, but the style, quite possible.

Yay--I like anything a bit different, a bit juxtaposed from one's normal style. I like the black leather. If it does get too large, you can put a belt. But if it does not take a belt, then there are these hook thingies they sell online for $2. I will find them if you are interested and snap a photo. I use them on skirts all the time, and they neatly cinch the waist.

I like it but vote return. For the season's I'd sport a tartan print I'd want more coverage, the slit is what makes it a no to my eye.
