I continue to be amazed by everybody's creativity in coming up with inspired outfits!

My submission for today:
My top has some of the oranges and striations seen in the rocks, the cobalt pants the color of the water, and the necklace also representing the strata of the rock. My sandals have some of the muted lavender-gray tones, as well as some of the twisted form of the driftwood.

Today the fuchsia silk jacket got its first outing, along with my purple linen shirt for the rumply, folded effects. Oranges and corals are in short supply in my wardrobe, so I relied on Mary K's scarf to bring the tones into the outfit. Along with my silver belt for the driftwood, and my Report booties for a hint of the desert.

I've so enjoyed all the other interpretations!

I originally was going to wear my blush dress and layered orange ombre necklace, but again, my activities of the day called for Plan B.

Tomato red and cream striped top to imitate the striations in the rock. The dark denim skirt for the water. The u shape of my necklace echoes the U shape in the photo. If you look closely, the bows on my shoes are similar to the bow like bent of the branch. The shoes also have mauve and beige colors.

Trend element of the day: Orange lipstick...hard to tell, but it's true. : )

I look forward to admiring everyone's interpretations later tonight!

Everyone is rocking this challenge, nice job!

Parsley, your colors are absolutely spot on! For a moment, I wasn't sure which thumbnail was the photo and which was you! The sandals are the perfect finishing touch and I love how they echo the twistiness of the wood.

Suz, so glad the Fuchsia jacket got to come out to play! Love the driftwood belt.

AJ, I hadn't thought of the shapes of the photo before now, but I totally see the U shape now!

Here's my entry. I've enjoyed all of them so much so far.

Parsley you figured out what I could not with the blue and orange. I asked my kids if my outfit looked like the picture and was told I needed blue.
I wore my Anthro fish skirt for the orange/pink/cream colors and the horizontal lines
My tank has bandage-like strips to mimic the texture in the photo
Chose the brighter pink cardi for fun (it beat out cream yellow and paler pink)
Nude shoes (mini heels today! Leg is much much better
Layers of beads necklace (Rack for $6)
By chance (and laziness because I do not change my purse daily for my outfits) my new bag is a royal/purply blue.

Ah, JJ, it's just that you love your orange so much it is all your brain could process! And you look wonderful in it, too.

Such gorgeous color combinations today, ladies! I love seeing how each of us pulls different things from this photo; it's a fabulous piece to draw inspiration from isn't it? I'm especially loving the corals and oranges that surfaced today. Astrid, you know I adore your culottes

Here's my outfit for today! Info on inspiration is over on my separate post for this outfit, found here.

I didn't want to miss the party, because this was such a beautiful image from nature, and I've been so impressed with everyone's interpretation here. Yet, quite honestly, I probably wouldn't wear these items together and so I simply had fun at the last minute. My interpretation was based solely on the extraordinary colors and the driftwood, which I represented in my boot choices. This wouldn't have been appropriate for my day which included a beginning ballet class and shopping at the local market. I'll have to step up my creativity for the next challenge, because of what I've seen on display here. ^_^

1 - Orange silk tunic with blue Paige jeans and DV by Dolce Vita suede booties
2 - "Nature gone wild" with Orange-red blue-dot print blouse, blue Paige jeans and multi-colored popcorn scarf and knee-high taupe boots
3 & 4 - Close-up of scarf and blouse

I am sooooo enjoying seeing everyone's stunning interpretations of these paintings - you are all a feast for the eyes.

(MaryK - I do think you cheated a little on this one though - lol)!

(Cross-posting to my blog, and I'll be back to read the other posts!)

Like many of you, I wanted to post the challenge responses in my blog, so I apologize for the double-post to the threads in the forum.

Bella's thread: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....re---day-3

I just loved the warm pinks and salmons of the sand dunes in the inspiration photo, and the soft blue of the sky reflected in the water. But I'm on a very bright, saturated-color kick right now, so I chose to amp up the volume. In the true spirit of the inspiration photo, I shot this first thing in the morning with still slightly damp hair before leaving for work - and it was just getting to be bright outside on my porch.

Blue abstract print wrap dress - the print feels very organic to me, and makes me think of water (albeit more ripply water than the photo displays) and on top, I went with a more hot-pink version with this silk scarf, although there are salmony-brown patches in the print. As the inspiration photo was taken in the Arizona, I attempted to evoke a Southwestern vibe with a kerchief-style scarf; however, it was too slippery to stay put on top of the dress, so instead I tucked it in.

Yellow shoes and handbag are to evoke the yellow of the sunrise at the top of the dune, and the green glasses - well, those are just me!

This is a great challenge so far, Bella - thanks again for getting us started!

Here is mine - pardon the no makeup and messy 'do. I took these over the weekend since I am biking to work this week.

Ah, the beauty of Northern Arizona! This picture brought back the memories from our Arizona trip last October...
The first think jumping on you from this picture is the vibrant color combination of orange and blue. However I did not feel like wearing these colors today (and orange is really limited to one summer dress in my wardrobe and it is too cold for summer dresses).
So the next thing was pattern of all those twisted lines - in the rocks, in the water, in the driftwood... so this is what I came up with:
Floaty blouse as a nod to the color scheme of orange and blue but more subdued and a nod to water for the see-through fabric and floaty sleeves;
Grey trousers and shoes for driftwood;
Stripes in the trousers, shoes and sweater to represent all those likes in the picture.

BTW, have you noticed that every single picture in this challenge has water in it...
Now I am off to look at others...

Wow, everyone looks great. So creative.

Here we are again. Both inspired mainly by the layers in the sedimentary rock.

L'Abeille (Mom) here. I don't have or suit the bright oranges and pinks that predominate in the picture, so I focussed on the blue of the water, with highlights of stripes and a dash of white. Funny, though. This outfit contains so many elements of my style rubric (navy as a neutral--though it looks black in the photo), stripes, and menswear vibe--but whenever I saw myself today I just thought "looks like I work for ViaRail"

And yet again I am bowled over by everyone's inspiration. All so beautiful.

I am posting very late today, apologies.
I didn't know what to wear for today's inspiration picture until I re-discovered this scarf in my closet. It is a dead-ringer for the canyon - problem solved!:)

Astrid - I really love these colors on you, what a pretty combo!
Manidipa - I am glad that you got to try a new pairing, this is the whole point of this challenge.:)
Ana - I love your clean and streamlined take.
Amy - are your shoes purple too? so are mine!:)
Dianthus - fabulous pattern mixing!
MaryK - absolutely gorgeous! I am convinced that you can whip up a dress from your wardrobe for every challenge!
Diana - You have such a great, unique style. I love the boots.
Sarah - I am envious of your gorgeous weather, you wear hats so well!
Rae - I think the skirt is very cute, you've gotten some good advice how to style it in the other thread.
Chrizzle - you went with a scarf as well, high five!
GP - it is hard to pick. I think 8-11 fits the picture very well.
Ornella - Our cardis might just be the exact same color!:)
Parsley - your outfit is right on trend for this spring.
Suz - I didn't get a chance to comment on your magenta suit, but I really loved it. This is a great outfit.
AJ - what a pretty necklace, I'd love to see a close-up.
Jeanne - your kids are super attentive- the blue bag really makes the outfit.
Aida - I was thinking of red pants at first at well - super nail color!
Vicki - I really #1, you could wear them together.
Kari - I am sp impressed with your pattern mixing. - IS this something you'd have normally worn if it werent' for the challenge?
Jenava - pretty skirt! i didn't get to comment, but I absolutely loved your outfit yesterday!
Sveta - it is cold here as well, but you managed beautifully with some clever layering.
L'abeille - thanks mom and daughter duo for playing along - It is wonderful to see you play along. What can we call you individually?

I love these - you all look fab. I am amazed at the interpretations - that is what creativity is all about.
I am lacking in those beautiful warm stone colors, so I wore neutrals with texture for the stone.
I added my striated cool red scarf - but these are playful stripes, they always make me think of Dr Seuss, not the majestic sweeping canyons - I will work on that.

When the Inspired by Nature schedule was first posted I thought that the first or the fifth challenge would be the one to bring in the most similar outfits/looks - because of the minimal colour variation in the photos, and that this one would have the most diverse outfits - because of how much is going on in the photo. So far, I'm way off! Day 3 finds so many YLF'ers on the same wavelength: breezy outfits that look and feel like a carefree spring sunset on the water.

You all look fantastic!

Oh this is so fun, and I love seeing the interpretations. I must admit my votes go to Viki and Parsley because I refuse to include MaryK out of sheer spite! Dang woman has everything!

My trial focused only on the colors of the desert as I could not figure out how to add a glassy dark blue into the mix.

I loved Amy's striped dress on her blog! That really made me feel the sculpture of the stone!

I hope to have better luck tomorrow!

I just wanted to say that I had another look at all the outfits and you all look fantastic! This is so much fun.

Wow, only now back to catch up and it's amazing on this thread!

Rae, I see your first outfit as closest to the photo, because the variation in the stripes really makes sense for the variations of colour and width in the striations; but I love the colour combination in the second photo too, which is more dramatic, also a key element of the art.

Ornella, you are glowing! Why wear pastels when you can look so fantastic in those dramatic saturated sunset hues?

Parsley, LOVE how streamlined and deceptively simple your outfit is, yet the details perfectly capture the mood and shapes and textures in the inspiration image. Those sandals look so charming.

Suz, yay for the suit! Wasn't it a timely find? That scarf is the bee's knees and the cat's whiskers with that jacket! One of my favourites of all the outfits I've seen you in.

AJ, such a thoughtful interpretation! Love how cleverly you worked the basic shapes and lines of the photo in.

JJ, you are as beautiful as a sunset yourself! Marvellous look, and has you positively glowing.

Aida, full of admiration for how you continue to use your hair to best effect --- and now your nails too! Fabulous outfit, too, by the way Looks like a whole lot of fun, which is exactly what you're having I suspect!

Vicki, no superlatives are enough for your creativity and style. Impeccable interpretation!

Kari, a STUN THE SUN outfit, right up to your eyewear! I'm amazed and awed.

Jenava, love the subtlety of your interpretation.

Sveta, full of admiration at the boldness of your pattern mixing!

L'Abeille, love how you went strong and simple, resulting in high drama, while your daughter went for the other part of the mood: serenity and changefulness.

Bella, what can I say? You're as unbelievable as MaryK. Dead ringer, forsooth!

Fern, love your rendering of the stone and the water, and you're yet another one to pick up the overall U and long arms shape with your scarf! LOVE this look.

Jayne, I'm more than a little bit in love with your tunic and might have to steal it, since the painting likely better guarded! :-p

Oh, everyone looks beautiful! I'm loving all the bright, rich colors.

Bella, why yes, I am wearing purple shoes like you. Purple shoes are awesome.

Vicki, I adore your brilliant colored, polka-dotted swashbuckling style!
