Fern --- W.O.W. Your art! I am rendered speechless. And that is the most creative outfit I've ever seen on YLF, I suspect. All the superlatives and exclamations I could muster up feel entirely unequal to it.

The first picture is what I wanted to wear today. Some of you have seen this dress at the end of last summer, when I purchased it on sale. The print reminds me of Monet's waterlilies and this photo has waterlilies, so I thought it was a perfect match. Of course, if you could see our weather today (cold, rainy, dreary), you'd understand how laughable the idea of wearing that dress today is.
So instead I am wearing #2. I added a close-up of the print . Since we've been talking a rings, I remembered to add this cocktail ring.

!!!

Diana, your tonal green layers are so beautiful! I feel a bit of an UWP vibe as well, somehow, even though it's not so literally tough. FAB umbrella style.

Fern, the pants layered under the dress are so fun! The layered effect is kind of like the color gradient of the water in the photo.

Bella, it is dreary here as well - I hope to see that dress again soon, though! It is gorgeous and needs some time in the sun.

Here's my submission! I also made a separate post so I could include it on my YLF Blog. I was inspired by the movement of the plants in the water. : )

Oh wow! Fern, your quilt is gorgeous! As is your outfit. And everyone else's, too. I am afraid I will forget people on page one, but Bella, it is funny how we had the same idea—wanted to wear a dress and ended up in green sweater and jeans! I love your scarf.

So many of us ended up wearing stone jewelry even though stones are not referenced. Fascinating. Something about the photo evokes them, clearly!

Rae, so glad your new dress got an outing.

Diana, your umbrella is the piece de resistance in an absolutely stunning outfit!

MaryK - I love how your colours are different but the mood is the same.

Carole, you really do look beachy and fresh!

Ornella - simple, strong, and lovely - as always.

If I have missed someone, and I am sure I have, it is not that I didn't ooh and ah! at your outfit. But I am on a busy work day so must go back to it!

Bella, I am just enjoying this soooo much ! Thank you. I will post tomorrow - all three outfits ( I have been under the weather ).

Everyone's outfits are so incredible and I am just loving the colors. How joyful they all are.
Fern, it is great to see you post and your quilt is AMAZING !

I love everyone's interpretations!

Carole, Ornelia, Dianthus, SarahA, Astrid and Manidipa, love how you captured the colors! And your waterlily pin is beautiful, Manidipa!

Rae, love the watery print on your blue dress and the lily ring! So pretty!

MaryK, great outfit! I love how your outfits are bright interpretations of the past two days. Very creative!

GirlX, that bag is amazing! Fun, urban outfit!

Diana, I feel like you captured the exact colors of the photograph! What a great outfit!

Suz, the pattern of your dress definitely reflects the watery feeling of the photo. I love it! Are you sporting a shorter haircut? Looks great!

Fern, your quilt is GORGEOUS! I love it!! (I used to be big into quilting). Thanks for posting a picture of it. Beautiful outfit, too. : )

Bella, I like both of your outfits! Shame about the dress--the watery print and colors are perfect. But the second outfit is really fab too. I love your bow tie blouse and the lime green cardigan. That's a beautiful color on you.

Wow! You are all stunning and incredibly creative. I am completely blown away by all of these awesome outfits. Bella , this was a marvelous idea for a challenge!

While I can not really participate due to technical reasons (too many work dress code and weather restrictions), I think I might do a " what I would have worn" version of the challenge.

Fabulous contributions again. These colors are so wonderful I knew I'd love all of these.
Here's mine from today.
Blouse (Jones NY) has all the colors, watery pattern, drapey feel and the vertical lines
Cardigan (Gap) for warmth in office and to represent the darker blue water
Ankle Pants (Talbot's) represent the stems of the lilypads
My hair is the yellow of the lilypads
Shoes (LL Bean Signature) still flat but my leg is remarkably feeling better so maybe up to a low heel tomorrow. Blue and teal with tassels that remind me of some of the underwater plants.
Jewelry: black pearl earrings and necklace represent the dark murky parts of the picture
Bandaid - sort of neutral skin color

The only green I own is olive green and ONE cashmere forest green sweater, and I have zero aqua colored clothing...so I tried to bring the brightness of the photo in with the yellow shoes.

Bonus shots of some add'l outfits I tried that didn't make the cut (not dressy/refined enough for me to feel comfy).

I got to leave work early today because there are protestors downtown...good for me, but really bad for downtown businesses. )-:

Jeneva - I LOVE #1. Gorgeous! The shoes are fab with this...and your EYES!!

JJ - your scarf is gorgeous! Hope your foot is feeling better.

Ana, we cross posted. I love your floaty interpretation! And my hair has just been trimmed so is a bit shorter, yes.

It is so fun to look at all of your outfits. Rae your new dress is stunning and I love those yellow shoes Jenava.

Here's my submission. I would never have combined these items/colors were it not for this challenge. This scarf is hand-made and has a very watery feel, I think. My flowy top is no stretch for me, I know, but it's applicable to the picture.

Here is my version. I have several green and green-blue items but for this picture I wanted something fluid and this silk flowing tunic fit the bill. Added yellow raisin skirt to reflect yellow-green tones in the picture and circle belt and oval earrings for round forms.

Although I'm not participating in this challenge, I am having so much FUN looking at all of your beautiful interpretations. You are all so creative and inspiring!

Fern - your quilt art is astoundingly beautiful!

I'm not participating either but WOW! I am so impressed with how much fun you all are having and how great your outfits look!

Fern, your quilt has seriously blown me away!

Beautiful interpretations ladies! It's wonderful to see both bright and muted versions of this color palette. All of these lovely soft blouses are really making me wish I had more of them in my wardrobe. Girl X that bracelet is sooo cool, and Fern your quilt is amazing looking! I am really enjoying seeing everyone's outfits, and especially enjoying reading the inspirations/thoughts behind each one.

Here's my outfit for today! Info on inspiration is over on my separate post for this outfit, found here.

Here's me and my mother again.

I notice the last two days' photos have been from the Okovango Delta, so just to show off, here's _my_ photograph of waterlilies, which I took while I was studying there.

You all are amazing....

L'abeille, the necklace is spot on, isn't it? That's so cool that you've been to Africa!

Here's my interpretation of this one. Of all the photos, this one has my favorite color palette. I wish I had more clothes in these rich shades!

My dress is teal, just in case it doesn't look that way on your screens. I added a lighter blue sweater for warmth, a velvet floral burnout scarf and frog earrings (made by me). I'm sure there are frogs hiding behind those lilies!

By time I get to these threads I am too overwhelmed by gloriousness to manage any individual comments but truly everyone looks amazing. I could spend all day on this thread alone.

I am loving everyone's outfits! So many beautiful colors and luxurious textures today.

Manidipa, I love your jewelry - the waterlily earrings and leather bracelet are perfect for today!

MaryK and Suz, I love your waterlily-inspired prints! I would actually LOVE to have this photo made into a skirt or blouse or scarf...

Rae, I'm so glad the new dress came out to play! It's perfect for the challenge.

GirlX, such a cool bracelet/ring!

Fern, your quilt! Swoon..

Carole, LOVE the idea of rolling up your pants to evoke the beachy, relaxed mood.

Denise and Aida, loving the green skinnies! Why do I not yet have a pair?!?!

Bella, too bad you did not get to wear the lovely waterlily dress (wasn't today's weather absolutely dreadful?) but I love the colors of your replacement outfit! The lime cardi is so stunning with your dark hair.

Amy, love the scarf and the frogs! Frogs and lilypads - love it!

What a feast of such stunning color! Im sorry I can't comment on each but seriously ladies the creative juices are flowing. You all look so beautiful.

Bella and JJ, what beautiful shirts! They look as though they were custom-made for this challenge, with their flowy quality and the perfect colours. And so interesting to see how dark-haired Bella adds brightness to her outfit with the lighter green cardi, while bright-haired JJ ratchets it down with darker blue and green!

Bella, coveting your ring. Just a little. Hope you don't mind? And can I take this opportunity to thank you, once more, for all the fun and inspiration?

Ana, such a lovely, playful interpretation. How well you do these retro silhouettes! This one is absolutely superb. Mind-blowing.

Tanya, PLEASE do would-have-worns! You're so good with colours and layers, I can't wait to see what you put together.

Jenava, fwiw, I LOVE your casual interpretations, even if they didn't make the 'cut'! The flow and texture and colour of that scarf are perfect.

Sveta and Denise, what fun to see you both 'going with the flow'! And coming up with two completely different silhouettes! Denise, beautiful scarf and coveting that top, but that bright little belt is SO clever!

Aida, no one makes better use of her hair to complete her look than you do. Marvellous interpretation, loving the layering! *SO* enjoyed reading your post about it.

L'Abeille, you clearly have unfair home advantage to have studied the inspiration first-hand even prior to the art it inspired. You look beautiful. Love how the beads weave the palette together. And so clever of your mum to choose those shimmery textures --- loving the subtle sparkle of her sweater and the fluid, changing light/dark shading of her pants. So, so creative.

Amy, FAB outfit, challenge or no challenge. You look absolutely gorgeous and impressive. Love your column of blue, which turns the graduated colours in the photo sideways. Great lateral thinking, and ADORE your bag. Love the froggy earrings you made (!) and completely agree there must be frogs in the picture where we can't spot 'em!

I almost didn't play along today. I originally wanted to remix my new Bobeau chevron skirt for this day's challenge. Then I remembered that DD had a softball game today and my original outfit felt too dressy for the event. So here is what I came up with instead.

My fedora and leaf earrings (see pic 2) represent the texture and flatness of the leaves floating on the water. The ruffles and print of the top represent the water's abundant plant life. The skort (I KNOW, don't gouge your eyes out, please!) picks up the green in the water. My skinny legs represent the long stems. : P Lastly, my floral rubber sandals and blue toe nails repeat the water theme.

Since this top is floaty and boxy, it didn't play nice with the a-line of the skort, so I am trying a front tuck for the first time. (Yesterday, I wore a peplum and today a front tuck. Hmmm....maybe I have to add an additional "trend" component to this picture challenge. : )

AJ, this is the first time I've seen flip flops looking so stylish. The colors and your pedi make your footwear choice perfect for this outfit! I just got my Bobeau skirt (same color as yours) yesterday, I'm mulling it over.

Wow! Just took a looksie at all the submissions thus far...we are a FAB group of inspiration interpreters!! I'm sorry for not commenting on each one, but I did want to shout out to:

Diana - LUV your entire outfit! That umbrella might go missing....

GirlX - Did you make that copper wrap jewelry piece? Fabulous!

Rae - The new dress is off to an AMAZING start!

Fern - I would not have thought to put wide leg cropped pants under a dress, but the boots help lengthen the leg line and it all adds up to a quirky, funky, artsy vibe that I quite admire! Oh, WOWIE ZOWIE on that quilt you are working on!!! It is jaw dropping AMAZING!!

@cocolion - You don't like the Bobeau skirt? I think the way it floats when you walk is a major selling point. : P

Timer photo taken with the camera balanced on the car hood, which accounts for the weird perspective.

I find these challenges, well, challenging, as I don't have that much variety in the wardrobe yet. For this one, I tried to match the colors with the watery green blouse and blue cardigan/jeans. I wore cool grey shoes to keep it "water" themed.
