this is so much fun to see everyone's outfits! lovely and creative!

Great outfits everyone! Here's my version, it's a lounge wear one. Since I didn't leave the house at all today I didn't have the enery to put a great outfit together. But even so I tried dressing with a nod to today's picture instead of just donning my usual sweats.

Wonderful contributions!
The picture immediately reminded me of this dress, but then I realized I got rid of it a few months back:

So this is my outfit. In my defense, it was in the high 40s this morning when I got dressed. We are having a pretty chilly spring.

Bella, you don't need any defense! You look fab!

I'm a bit rumpled at the end of the day, but maybe that's as it should be, given the rumpled skin of the elephants. Like so many of you, I've taken inspiration from the colours and textures. My earrings are the reflective moons, my "cobra" print scarf echoes the elephants' trunks and their colouring and skin, and my pachyderm pin came out to play for the second time during a YLF challenge week!

Thanks Bella! And thanks, all.

Great inspiration and outfits! So beautiful.

So here I go. Suz, I love the elephant clasp! I'm on your same page with the obvious element reference.

Torn by Ronny Kobo elephant oversized top. Ancient 45 year old wooden pendant from my Mom. (I wanted one old thing to represent elephants -- don't they live long lives?) Adrienne Vitadinni sandals, MK watch, new khakis from Willi Smith TJ Maxx line. (I think I finally found the right pair.) Bracelet from H&M. My bra is light purple to match the colors of the photo. It shows really easily in this top!

These are all so fab! Ornella, it's great to see you again. And Manidipa and Diana, these are my favorites you've done ever! You knocked the style ball not only out of the park, but all the way into the SF Bay! (Giants fan here.)

LOL, Denise, I am wearing a taupey lavender bra today too (which oddly enough functions as a nude bra on me).

These are all so beautiful! Denise, you look so peaceful and serene. And Bella, I love both your outfits! Sad the dress had to be retired, but it clearly got well loved.

So many great interpretations. I am not going to mention them all because I am sure to forget a few from the first page.

I was thinking about the story of the picture. It was the end of the day and I was thinking of new beginnings. I tried to incorporate the colors but also decided to shed winter and change over completely to spring today. Sadly it was quite cold (7C) this morning so I did have to put a jacket on.

I wore the pinky red dress with a grey/blue cropped sweater, the grey pearls, and the new grey shoes.

These are all so fab! Ornella, how wonderful to see you again! I hope your packing goes smoothly--how exciting!

I actually wore something that was inspired by this gorgeous pic, but I didn't snap a WIW because it's so dark and gloomy here, and I was all wrinkled and cranky by the time my hectic day had ended :).

Maybe this will paint a picture (I acknowledge this is pathetic): White and purple paisley button down, gray soft slouchy trousers, black tailored vest, black booties, silver belt and bracelets.

Look at those lines of elephants! So perfect for today, Suz and Denise!

Here's mine. Boy, this was harder than I thought!

Pearl stud earrings to represent the moon. This top was closest to the pink in the inspiration photo that I could get. The belt represents the elephants and their wrinkly skin texture. The charcoal grey skirt is their reflection in the water. I wanted to bookend the pink so these dark fuschia sandals was what I came up with, but now that I think about it, I should have used my mauve snakeskin flats. Oh well, I tried! : )

SO many great additions.

Here's mine before I maimed myself with a tent stake in the ankle. Yes it hurt a LOT. Mostly because I am now limited to flats for work all week.

The colors reminded me of my new madras patch capri pants (JCrew via ebay - they have zippers at ankles and pockets so a little cool factor, but I know are for preppy me and not too many others). I added a crisp white tunic button down (LL Bean iron free), a consignment denim jacket (more fitted and like a chambray weight with a little stretch) and my Clarks wedges that remind me of elephant skin.
DH reminded me "It's only Sunday" so I changed out the button down for a slouchy white tee and did a demituck but the photo is unflattering and I've had enough humiliation the last couple of days.

OUch, JJ!!!! I hope you feel better soon. You sure LOOKED fab! And AJ, you, too! Jonesy, I can certainly imagine your outfit. Beautiful!

Wow, such creativity! Ana, I love your exotic safari interpretation. Ornella, so good to e you, you look so elegant, and a new do? Mary k we are blouse twins, I wouldn't have thought of wewring that, good choice. Love your scarf pen, Suz!

Thanks Bella for all the fun!

I took my inspiration from the varying shades of the same colour family in the photo. I don't have anything elephantine (pachydermish?), so played with the belt a bit to give my outfit a trunk.

GirlX!! I swoon!!!

Wow!! All so fun and beautiful!

Oh my gosh....these are all beautiful interpretations ladies - gorgeous!

LOVE seeing everyone's interpretations! I was half-expecting a sea of rosiness and am delighted to see how varied these all are, in terms of color, texture, and silhouette. Nicely done ladies!

Here's my outfit for today! Info on inspiration is over on my separate post for this outfit, found here.

(OT, I feel like my hair styled straight shows my Armenian side much more strongly than normal, which comes from my mom. I'm definitely looking more like her today!)

Bella, this was a great idea, and way harder than I expected. I'm loving seeing what everyone has come up with!
I can't say that I would actually wear mine out of the house, but I tried to capture some of the range of sunset colors, and the grays and taupes with the jacket and booties. My silver pearl necklace-worn-as-a-bracelet is supposed to evoke the water and the moon.

I'm posting this on my mother's account, since she is working all day today. We're both trying the nature inspiration challenge this week.
Mine is inspired by the photograph's colours, and I'm wearing a velvet seed bracelet I bought when I was in Kenya.
Hers is inspired by african animals at a waterhole, only it's zebras and blue sky, rather than elephants and pink sky.

Girl X, I am drooling! I haven't looked at everyone's contribution yet, and am excited to go back and have a look! Here is mine. I went with two shades of the pinkish color, grey straight-legs (with crotch issues...sigh), and lavneder suede booties. My ring (yay, team ring!) is kinda like an elephant's tusk!

This wasn't my favorite outfit. for one thing, I discovered a tiny hole in the back of my sweater. And the pants aren't a great fit. I do like the tonal pinks, though, so I think in future I'll be inspired to match colors in the same family that don't "match".

Wow, I am so impressed by these pictures. I just quickly scrolled through clicking at the pictures like a mad woman and one after the other bowled me over. I wish I could comment on each one but for now I will say that I am amazed.

I am so late to the party but better late than never, isn't it?
There were two things which struck me while looking at this picture: color combination and texture mix.
This color combination is one of my very favorite: pink and grey. However as much as I like it I don't have anything pink to work with so I decided that my purple-red silk shirt is the next best thing: even though it is more saturated that colors in the picture it is in the same family. Fore grey I used my wide leg trousers.
There is also a rich texture mix in the picture: rough of the elephant skin and shine, reflective surface of water. Again my silk shirt fit the bill providing a "reflective" surface while tweed texture of the trousers and especially the textured wrinkled leather of the jacket played the role of elephant skin.
Now my duty is done and I am off to see the others!

It is so much fun to see everyone's interpretation. They are all so wonderful. And I'm especially thrilled to see people posting who don't usually post outfits! Yay, L'Abeille! And wasn't it nice to see Ornella pop in again?

Just read through all entries - so, so fab! It is so amazing how the same picture can inspire so many completely different outfits!
I just have to shout to Manidipa - it is the best outfit I have seen you posted so far! So simple and strong and really you rock those aviators!
<waving to Ornella> Nice to see you again even for post and run. Your hair look even more beautiful than before! Good luck with your move!
Now I am off to plan for tomorrow...

I'm simply bowled over by how fab all of your outfits are. I'm late to the party, but better late than never, right?

My interpretation of this photo is rather straight forward.

Colors: Shades of pink, brown and silver

Figures: Elephant earrings!

Textures: Shoes and "pebbled" silver bag reminded me of elephant skin...in a completely romanticized way--but the photo is rather romantic in feeling, don't you think?

Light: Dark colors that absorb light (skirt and blouse) offset by a reflective surface (bag=moon)

"Haziness" provided by silk/mohair shawl I knit last year.
