I've been trying to wear this colour combination together but haven't yet found a successful combination, yours is perfection.

First, great outfit, these colors look well here. Second, yes, I would and often do wear navy and black together. I also like navy and brown together or black and brown together. I think all of these combinations were "faux pas" at some point in the past but they are not to me.
