Hello YLF
This outfit is from yesterday and I am sharing because I would like your opinion on the proportions of the outfit but also because it was noteworthy at my house.

My DH was having coffee with me at our local Starbucks and turns to me and says ' That jacket doesn't suit you. It is too light.'

I realize that you cannot appreciate or evaluate this comment from the picture but he is probably right and the color is too pastel for me.

What I would like to ask you is what do you think of the peplum top with the skinnies. Does it work? Should I try it with other shape of pants? Stick with wearing it with skirts?

I actually quite like the jacket on you, Celia. But like you said, IRL it may look different. peplum top with skinnies can probably be described as structured structure and not the best look in my opinion. Can you try with some looser pants?

Colours are always difficult to judge on a computer screen, of course, but I don't think the blazer looks bad at all, Celia. FWIW: I'm fair-skinned too, and I know this colour wouldn't work on me (but I look best in colours with cool undertones to begin with).

The peplum looks great with these skinnies, I like it. I bet straight legged pants or jeans could work too, and of course skirts, as you mentioned yourself.

I also like the jacket on you and with these pieces - and I think the jacket makes the skinnies and peplum work - nice outift, IMO.

I like the jacket on you, but as you said, the colormay not come through on photos.

I think the peplum and skinnies work very well! I really prefer a peplum over a streamlined bottom like skinnies or a pencil skirt.

it is interesting because the color of the jacket is exactly the same color of my natural lip color.

maybe if I try it with a diferent color scheme.

I think the jacket looks fine on you. Not too light at all.

Maybe DH meant that he didn't like the color with the black and grey you have it paired with. I think I would like it better either paired with other colors, or with something added that brings a touch of the jacket color into the outfit in some other place.

Sometimes people, guys especially, know that they don't like something but aren't good at verbalizing why. This may or may not apply to your DH.

T Rex it takes some translating effort but given several options like in a quiz show he ended up choosing option b) it made me look tired

I think a cell phone photo taken under store fluorescent lights is not going to show color well.

I like the jacket colour, but I also think something like a black scarf would intensify the whole outfit. I also really like the top, but not necessarily with the skinnies. The top seems proportionally long; I tend to think it would be nice to see some leg. Maybe an A-line skirt...

I like the peplum top on you. I can't tell colours on people from photos but not every colour looks good on everyone. I look awful in pastels.

I have seen a lot of peplum tops with skinnies on the streets here. I like the outfit.

I wore a peplum top with skinnies today! But I do admit I added a bit of a heel and that helped me. Also, mine was a bit of a softer peplum because it is made of knit (like a sweater knit). I actually like the outfit, Celia, and it's really tough to tell about the jacket in this photo. It looks nice from here!

@rachylou funny because one of the things that was making me second guess this was the fact that i think the waist on the peplum looks way high.But i agree with you in general
@Suz you got to the point. I think it is the stiffness ok the peplum. But(she says with a bit of shame) I have another peplum that is of a different fabric and shape that might work better.

I think a peplum with skinnies can work. I think this particular peplum is a bit stiff. I want to see something more flouncy. Or pair it with a skirt.

I think the peplum looks a little long and not a good proportion. I do wonder though if adding heels instead of flats might help that...
My eye is really tuned into proportions as it the most important thing I learned from blogging and taking my photos... I had it all wrong at the beginning. YLF forum members were kind in pointing that out when I posted piictures reaffirming what I was seeing..

Oh well!!! Hubbies are entitled to their opinions. And we can take them for what they are worth to us.

Celia, I'm a big fan of that peplum top on you. It's funny, I see the proportions as working very well and it's interesting that others see differently. I wear peplums a lot, though, so perhaps I'm more used to the effect?

I think pastels can be tough with black because the contrast can make the pastel look grayish. Maybe he would like the jacket better paired with a similar hue, like camel or taupe?

I can't see anything wrong with the colour of your blazer, Celia it works out so well with the rest of the outfit and your complexion, too. Maybe this was a bit of a too quick change from wintery darker and bolder colours to the more subtle springy ones, for him! Men!:-)

Can I get some further clarification on "structured structure"? I would like to learn more on proportions.<p/>I can't see anything wrong with pairing skinnies with peplum; plus this peplum Celia is wearing is the first one I've seen that I truly like: the proportions seem pretty good to me! (I would sweep the flats, though, picking up the lighter gray hue from the top or for heels).
