WIW: summer hearts

I am struggling with how to dress for the warmer weather in New Town. When I'm at home all day I can just wear a tank top and shorts, but when I'm out and about I prefer to be a bit dressier. I lived down here a decade ago, but back then I had an office job and spent all day in the air conditioning. I'll figure it out...eventually! Meanwhile, I went for lightweight layers. The shirt is pretty drapey IRL but in the pics it looks very blocky. Not sure it's the most flattering.

Would love to hear suggestions. Hope everyone is having a good start to the week.

I think you look terrific! I love black, white and red together, and the sandals add a nice pop.

No idea how warm it is by you, but lots of ladies here have fab summer dressing ideas. I go from an air conditioned house, to an air conditioned car, to an air conditioned office. And while it was in the 80 s yesterday, a front came through last night, and the rest of the week won't get out of the mid 70s. So my version of hot is a bit skewed. (we paid for the gorgeous summer with a massively sub zero winter though).

I like the red, white and black together, and am always looking for shirt weight toppers for summer to wear over tanks that are not shirts and they are nearly nonexistent. Denim and twill are too hot. Anything lined is too hot. Anything knit is too hot. I like sleeveless jackets and vests because when my arms are exposed, I feel cooler.

Thanks, everyone. Kellygirl, I'm not too far from you now, I think! There have been some great threads about summer dressing in the last couple days so I'm going to have to spend some time taking notes soon.

This outfit didn't work that well in practice - I'd forgotten how much open shirts will flop about when you are walking and doing stuff. Even with the bottom two buttons buttoned, the area around the bust would move. I think it's because the shirt is a little too wide and a little too short for me, to be honest. I originally got it from Gwynnie Bee as a rental and fell in love with the print and the lightweight fabric and bought it, but now I kinda regret it since the fit isn't perfect.
