WiW on Night Call and Flashback!

I found #1 on my phone and thought I would throw it in for laughs. I can't believe I used to dress like that and it wasn't that long ago! In fact, I have all of the pieces still and look how short my hair is! I think that is within four or five months!

I went with Suz's suggestion and went with navy, but still feel that I was able to keep a bit of my signature style. Only compliments so far... but the night is still young!

Can you believe I used to wear that? And why didn't you guys stop me? LOL!

Number 1 is super cute! I think it's a lovely spring outfit, what's so wrong about it? I do love the navy dress too though, it's fit to you perfect!

Maybe #1 is just hard to imagine in the middle of winter. I think you look cute.

That said, 2/3 is perfection; just the balance you're seeking for work, I think.

Really like the second outfit for work. Keeps some of your flirty feminine in a professional manner. Outfit one is fine, but it makes you look much younger, IMO.

We didn't stop you because it was attractive and true to you at the time. You're going through some big changes now, it seems, and are feeling a disconnect with your former style. That's ok. Some day I should show you pictures of me in oversized tops + stirrup pants + BIG hair. I can't relate to that now, but it was just right then

Yes! Amy brings up a good point (and I so want to see pics). Your former look was a little more romantic and eclectic, but your looks were creative and fun. I work on a campus with grad and doctoral students -- let's just say you outdressed them by a mile!

Your style now keeps the best elements of feminine romanticism, but adds in a work-ready professional touch. LOVE #2.!

Lyn-- the clothes are not as important as your skills and demeanor , so take this with a grain of salt, but if I were your mentor I would have to say the outfits are quite girly and young- looking. Nicely dressed, yes, but I'm a bit confused about what you hope to " project" based on the duties and work environment I thought you were in. However I do recall your sister took all your clothes! So do keep experimenting with the more tailored looks . Perhaps if there were not the bow at the neck? I think that veers into the schoolgirl look when combined with the style of dress and tights. You're actually in the situation of trying to let your clothes age you a bit( at work). You have the great advantage that it is hard to look dowdy at your age. Never fear, there will come a time when you will not be mistaken for a kid, and at first it will be liberating, then slight regret and nostalgia, then back to liberation! So I think you are in a very normal style journey that young professional women travel. I'm convinced I was totally style-ignorant at your age, for either professional choices or personal expression, and there was no YLF , no Internet( gasp!) so no instant feedback to be either helpful or discouraging. Maybe in your vast spare time(!) as you SYC for outfits you can keep posting some contenders for the most professional looks with items you have.

i love the "grown up" vibe. also, i think "dressing the part" is part of the therapeutic relationship. i wonder if this is more true of psych than other specialties?

I think psychiatry is unique in that we "play to our strengths" in terms of our persona - someone who has a younger looking face that looks innocent can "play" that part in a theraputic alliance and use it to their advantage. Some of my classmates have very model-esque features and they do play that up as well.

I find tailored looks make me feel fat. Oh well.

I totally agree with Amy - outfit #1 is lovely on you and totally suited you at the time. Your style is evolving now and so it no longer feels right. Your second outfit with the navy is the perfect mix of "flirty lyn" and "professional lyn"!
