Last night I went to the opera and wore a DVF wrap dress (although a few people wear formal gowns, it's anything goes, from jeans to formal, at the opera in DC, and most people wear cocktail attire--the dress was on the money). I actually don't adore this dress on me, but I wanted to wear sleeves (without a jacket or cardi), and everything else I have was sleeveless. Anyway, awhile ago I purchased a very wide black belt from Matt and Nat, and thought I would try it with the dress. I covered the self-belt with this wide belt.
Does the wide belt work, or does it just look silly? My boyfriend thinks it looks ridiculous and every time I try it with an outfit he says (with a laugh) "oh no!!!! Not the big belt again!" Of course, I wore it despite his protests. I did tighten it one notch after taking the photo, but I think that it looks about the same.
So, is this belt a keeper, or should I rehome it (and if I do, does anyone here want to take it off my hands)? Yay if it's great, nay if it doesn't work for me.
Sorry for the quality of this photo and the mess in the background. We were running very late when I took it. I don't know how some of you take such good photos using your mirrors--I have a lot of trouble.
