WIW 1-11: Relaxed skinnies

As Suz pointed out I mostly post pics of me in slim-cut pants. This is generally because relaxed-fit pants fall off my nonexistent hips. These are cinched in like gangbusters; I may take them to the tailor to get the back nipped!

These are called relaxed skinnies but by the end of the day they'll be as boyfriend as you desire. No spandex!

- JCrew cotton cable sweater

- Linea Pelle belt

- R13 relaxed skinny jeans

- Tag and Bone boots

I tried these rolled at first but think unrolled is better with these shoes. Frankly stumped what shoes to wear in colder weather when these are rolled up, TBH. Any ideas?

Nice! Cream cable-knit sweaters always seem so cozy and iconically wintry, and I really like yours. And I'm so envious of anyone who gets to use the phrase "nonexistent hips" to describe themselves.

I agree the unrolled version creates a better proportion. Love the sweater!

Looks good! I prefer unrolled. I had the same problem yesterday with my skinny boyfriends. I rolled them to the top of my booties and went out and about happy as a clam until I caught my reflection in a store mirror. Gah! I quickly unrolled them. Maybe my legs are too short.

Angie, the name is R13 relaxed skinnies. I think shopbop has them and ssense had them on sale but don't know how many are left. I found these on mega sale by some miracle on Yoox, but pretty sure they don't have them anymore as this was the last pair (and Yoox never says the style name, I recognized the cut).

Love these both rolled and unrolled. Have you tried them with an Oxford or pointed toe shoe, maybe a beetle bootie?

Love this!! You look terrific in this relaxed silhouette. Love the sweater, too. And I prefer them full length. Any kind of bootie will do. Pointy toed if you like, not, if you don't.

And yeah...if those jeans still exist in the online universe, they look like something I would be interested in.

I really wish Yoox would put the original style name on their jeans! I've been having trouble keeping the "relaxed skinny", "boy skinny", and "slouch skinny" R13 jeans straight - the sizing is very different (the slouch skinny is, I think, the one that runs huge) and I'm trying to stalk them on Yoox.

@Greyscale - don't do the slouch skinny or the droopy unless you have bigger hips. I have friends who are very pear-shaped who can rock them, but I simply cannot. Not sure how the "boy skinny" works.

@Suz - I did buy my regular size. In R13 I tend to be a 28 or 29, but I always have to take the waists in. So, I actually own two pairs of these, one is 28 and one in 29. (I succumbed to a "sale" on ssense for the second pair. The most I have ever paid for jeans. I am insane.) These pics are of the 29. The 28 is really not that much smaller. I highly suggest buying where you can return, because r13 sizing is nuts.

The R13 waxed skinnies I got from Yoox were on super sale at $166 and still by far the most I've spent on jeans. :-/

but I found them at a consignment store and the size tag was cut out, so I have no idea. I think in my ideal world I'd have one size bigger for an intentionally oversized fit like yours.

I love the cool tapering darts at the ankle. I like how it makes the leg slouchy even when they're unrolled.

Suz, for sizing, my waxed skinnies are a 26 and I usually wear a 25 or 26. (That style is meant to be super skinny.) And I tried on the slouch skinnies in a 26 and they were huuuuge but I guess that's intentional. Good info about the fit of those, IK, thanks. Definitely no big hips here, my bigger part is my thighs.

Also, both my R13 jeans can be worn for days and days without picking up any odor or bagging out too much. I love that. I wash jeans as often as they need it but not more often. For some jeans, that's every time I wear them. Not these!

Those jeans really are awesome on you. I came back to check them out again, with a vague hope of trying them, but it's just silly of me. I keep coveting jeans that just do not work on my body. Sigh. Jeans are my most-worn item of clothing -- I wish they actually looked so good on me.

@Grayscale - I'm with ya. I love them. I also love my AGs and vintage Rag and Bones (not as insane about the new /jean line) and ancient Daryl Ks. What they all have in common are amazing fabrics. I'm a sucker for texture.

Thanks, Dana. I appreciate the links. I noticed that the rises are very high. Hmmmm. That might not work for me, even in a relaxed style. I am a low rise gal all the way. And wear my BFs big enough so that they slouch to become low rise - if you know what I mean. I have my eye on these, and think I'm going to go for it. It is very hard to find faded jeans that are not torn:

Angie, the rise is certainly higher in these than in many others, but for sure I'm wearing it off my hips, nowhere near my navel.

And I LOVE those AGs. Let me know how they fit please!

I have the slouchy skinnies I think - not sure I will check later. I have them in black wash or something so they look grey and must agree that they do bag but I love them. I bought mine on ebay for less than 1/2 the retail price and I have another pair coming next week with my sister. They do have a very high rise. Will reread when I am more awake.
Anyway, IK you look fantastic and I plan to wear them with ankle strap shoes when it gets warmer.

Both unrolled and rolled look great to my eye. I wish we didn't worry so much about silly things like this, regarding making the leg look long, proportions right, it takes away from all the fun!
