I have some black suede booties Angie, just itching to be worn with this dress! I just had to scramble and fine a matching pair from my "shoe graveyard" (a spot on my floor where my shoes collect...the cats must do that, I don't know) before hubs bolted for work.
When I sit, the dress comes to mid thigh, which is short.
However, I am completely englufled in a huge bulky desk at work or would wear tights or stirrups with it. It doesn't show anything offensive, so I think it's appropriate for a date night as is...
...with a chunkier shoe.

Oh, wow. Sarah, that dress is way more compelling on you than in the catalog pictures. The print is great, the drape is gorgeous on your frame, and while it's short, the modesty of the neckline/sleeves and the volume balance out the length. But it would still look great over leggings or maybe even over skinnies, possibly even belted.
I love the way your style is evolving.
