Seriously nice fabric

Reading for ideas too!
I was going to start a similar thread focusing on VERY warm loungewear.
I really need fleece- level pants and top + more sometimes.
I have some EB flannel- lined BF jeans that are warm enough some days. For regular sweats or yoga pants I have to wear an underlayer- same for flannel shirts or sweatshirts. That works but sometimes feels too constricted. I have a micro fleece button- front shirt but would like to replace/ upgrade. I think they make more options in men’s.
So ideally I’d have the oxymoron: flattering, nicely fitted fleece pants!
Sometimes instead of a fleece jacket I wear a short plush robe to be less frumpy than full length.
I am letting go of my “ blardigan” ( waving at Goldenpig) because it’s too tigh in arms to layer comfortably, and it’s open front, not warm enough that way.

Thus is my go to outfit for cold weather lounging. It feels like I'm inside of a teddy bear <3

I am a huge fan of lululemon’s “still” pant. My first pair is probably 15 years old and still going strong. I have several pairs, in sb,ack and navy. I usually wear them with a tee and zippered hoodie, or sweatshirt, or cozy pullover of some form.
And they aren’t embarrassing g to be seen in!

Are PJs totally out? I just got a silk set from anthro in rich floral print that are really nice.

I see PJs and loungewear as separate things. My loungewear is something I can wear out of the house to run a quick errand one I put on sneakers — I also have those Lululemon pants Elizabeth posted. PJ’s are in house only.

One further idea that is part of my cozy casual capsule is a long stretchy skirt - one full enough to be able to curl up on the couch with. My current one is fairly lightweight, but I'd quite like one in sweatshirt material too.

I'm also keen on getting some sort of sweatshirt dress or tunic to wear with leggings this winter.

I got a hoodie I really like last year, but my only tracksuit pants were in a clashing blue. Finding some that won't clash. and have some style to them is one of my 2018 wardrobe goals.

i love target for my loungewear....they label it as pajama's, and you could sleep in it, but its really loungewear....anyway, this is a catagory that i want to look good, but its not something i want to spend alot on, so for me Target is perfect

I am working on this capsule too. So many great suggestions here. I like the idea of keeping one’s jewelry on with loungewear. And I think I need a pair of fleece lined leggings. I ordered a pair of velvet joggers in the after Christmas sales but I am not sure yet if I am imagining wearing them as loungewear or dressy wear (???). Thanks for starting this thread, Ms Mary.

My winter loungewear capsule consists of:

1. Leggings - I like Pact organic cotton leggings as they fit me well, are fairly durable, and soft. They work well in moderate temps.

2. If it's colder, I can layer fleece leggings underneath the Pact leggings for extra warmth. Or I get out my base layers -- merino wool leggings & zip top from Land's End, or Polartec leggings & zip top from 66North (purchased when we were last in Iceland). These are meant to be worn under outdoor winter gear, but I like wearing them on their own as loungewear.

3. This wrap from Athleta: http://athleta.gap.com/browse/.....=777944042 ... super soft and cozy and warm! Over a tank top or tee shirt with leggings. I also wear this wrap nearly every day as a "bed robe" over my pj's when lounging in bed.

3. LOFT Lou & Grey SignatureSoft tunics / cowl neck tops are fabulous... https://www.loft.com/lg-signat.....ature=true... super warm, super soft, cozy, and durable. I purchased a few two years ago, wear them once a week 6 months out of the year... and they still look good as new. They are also nice enough to wear outside, or to WFH. Yet feel like you are wearing jammies.

I don't wear slippers, just warm socks. But I may get myself some Allbird loafers and use those around the house, as they are soft as slippers.

Warm weather loungewear is a whole other story... my favorites for that are maxi tank dresses from ON, or elephant pants (purchased at amazon) with a tank top.

I don't typically wear loungewear, more likely to be be in jeans and a sweater but I occasionally switch to yoga pants. I got these fleece lined leggings recently for outdoor walks and they would be great for indoor lounging too. They are on the sporty side with a small reflective stripe on the lower leg that is not visible in the phtot.

On the sports bra idea, I wear the airism sport bra from uniqlo as a sleep bra and it might be what you are looking for msmary.....more support than most bralets but nowhere near enough for a real sports bra unless your support needs are minimal.

I don't wear loungewear often, as I often don't get home from work until well into the evening, and then usually just stay in my work clothes until bedtime. When I do, I love to wear fleecy, soft sweatpants and a comfy long-sleeved tee or sweatshirt. I have an especially soft cardigan that I'll wear over my tee shirts for extra warmth.

I can't recommend brands because my items are sort of a hodgepodge from several brands.

There is no central heating in Hong Kong, so it can feel very cold even when it only reaches about 7 degrees here (it would go below freezing in the UK, which I'm used to only with central heating, lol!) Anyway, most pharmacies or 7/11s etc around here still employ AC (yes, even in winter) so I need to be careful about wearing something that will keep me warm even though it's not quite as cold as below freezing, lol.

I like the look of yoga pants on my figure, but I find that the drawstring can either get in the way of things (adding bulk) or just make my loungewear look very casual (I know it IS casual lol, but I like to look appropriate enough to bump into someone if I'm nipping down to the shops, lol). I also don't like flared hems, since they can either drag on the floor or get tangled up in slippers, plus they allow too much airflow (good for summer, not winter). I know some people wear leggings, but I find them too constricting for sleep & I would need to make sure that I have long enough loungewear tops to wear them with.

My solution for my bottom half has been the Uniqlo Dry Sweatpants. They have a waistband without a drawstring, that I can half tuck/ faux tuck into for structure, & also some small pleats that give comfort for a food baby (lol) without being too 'extra' or unflattering. They end in typical sweatpant ankle cuffs, that trap heat to keep me warm, & also have pockets. The best part though is the 'dry technology' - very useful if you're somewhere that snows or just prefer something that regulates your moisture levels. I know these are technically sports trousers but they look loungewear enough to not feel out of place as pyjamas or loungewear. A cheap & cheerful wardrobe workhorse, considering the pricepoint!

Oh, my, ladies!

Thanks so much for all the great suggestions!

I have realized from reading this thread that my issue is not so much a clothing issue as an underpinnings issue! I need to find some kind of soft bra that will contain my large bosoms without being too tight or otherwise constricting, but will make me look decent and not sloppy while lounging in a tee or lightweight sweatshirt.

So... onward!!

MsMary, hopefully you will share with us what you find to resolve the underpinnings issue. I have somewhat similar problem, don’t feel comfortable lounging in a bra, but don’t like how I look without one. I don’t have large bosoms, only 34D, but after 2,5 years of nursing they need more support;)

Ms Mary, this may not work for you or for everyone, but I like the Second Base demi cami as a lounging alternative to a sports bra (36C here). They're also good for their ostensible purpose of adding more coverage up top.

Soma has sleep camis. I'm a 34DD and the size small contains me comfortably, and their nightgowns have a similar structure and do a nice job as well, for summer, with an appropriate top/cardigan over it. The cami with a flowy cardigan and leggings or loose pants makes a cute lounge outfit. They also merchandise the camis under flannel pjs, wearing the top of the pjs open, like a jacket, but I don't think that would be very flattering, on me.

I like to wear fancy-ish pajamas and nightgowns around the house in the evening, and layer them up with my vive la revolution sweatshirt or blankety shawls. (Obviously the bralette you go with would work easily with the pajamas.)

However, I am not a frugal New Englander with my heat. A lot of people around here set their house temps at 55-60F and I keep my house on the warmer side.

Check out this line, Bed to Brunch, that I just found at Nordstrom's. I'll be interested to see if anyone else has tried it. I was thinking of some of these PJs.

I’m a 36DDD and I love this Soma bralette. Super comfortable (love the fabric) and supportive (wide band, no wires). I wear it under loungewear all the time. Comfy enough to sleep in, too. I own multiples of this.

Kiki G, are any of the nightgowns you describe natural fiber? I clicked on a few, and they were not, would rather not go through the whole line I by 1 if you already have the answer.

I stay on the "hunt" just about all year for lounge-appropriate tops that are LONG SLEEVED and preferably not too open around the neck. I think it's weird how many athleisure tops are short-sleeved. Or the long sleeved tops (many of my tops from my past running days) are formfitting and really not that easy to wear.

I favor leggings and yoga pants with socks or cozy slippers, but lots of times I layer on top, like at the moment, I have on a sport bra, then a shortsleeved cowl-neck tee, with a cozy pale pink scarf I found at Aerie years ago, over it all. Often as I cool down after a (home) workout, I want to add just a little something, every so often.

I hadn't remembered Target sells other than C9 sports bras - I need to check some of their tops out.

For after swims, which I have to commute for, I have two sets of velour joggers and hoodies. I can pull a hoodie over my towel-turbanned head and make it between the pool and my car, except in our most recent near-freezing spell. Sometimes I'll pull these pieces out for after workouts and relaxing, too.

FashIntern, no, I don't think so. Mostly they are a blend that is designed to not be hot. It is actually very comfortable and doesn't feel like a synthetic.

Okay, here's an update: I ordered a whole bunch of "sleep bras" from Amazon and the one that was the winner so far is the least expensive! I ordered it in my regular band size plus a size up, and the size up was the winner. It's nicely soft and silky but supports enough so I feel decent in a tee or lightweight sweatshirt!

I still have an order coming from Soma but so far this one is in the lead!

This sounds too obvious, but I suspect you have already checked out VS for ideas? Some of my best loungewear from years ago came from Vicky, and it`s still going strong!

Loungewear can be tricky for me as I don't devote much of my clothing budget to it. However I have picked up some good quality hoodies and sweat tops from thrift stores. I tend to get sweatpants from an Australian brand called Bonds. They're similar to what you might find at Target. I wear the sweats with black socks. This way if I need to duck out to get milk or such I am at least presentable.
I find leggings uncomfortable,
However I've been looking at LulaRoe secondhand on EBay, has anyone tried those?

Loving this thread ... Making me realize that I need to invest in a cozy winter capsule! Leggings and a Roots sweatshirt is my current default. Some great ideas on here!

Have you checked out Uniqlo? They have great loungewear and super soft wireless bras, the one called "relax" is very comfortable.

I bought a pair of Roots jogging pants and a zip-up hoodie that I’ve lived in for the past several months. They are so comfortable and cozy, and the fabric is super soft. The cuts of the garments are slim and tailored, so they don’t feel athletic. Highly recommend.

When lounging in winter, I like to wear:
- Bottoms: long loose pants, elegant pj pants, moderate harem pants, or soft skirts or dresses
- Tops: tees (standard and fitted or long and loose), or pullovers
- Toppers: cardigans (all lengths, from boleros to boyfriends to coatigans), pj jackets, or pashmina style shawls
- Accessories: sometimes a necklace, or a fun brooch, and/or a bracelet. Opaque hosiery with dresses and skirts. Light wool socks with pants. If shoes are needed, soft suede ballet flats

For lounging, I never wear a matching pj set. I feel more "dressed" when wearing either the pants or the jacket, styled with other items. And I never buy pjs (or tees for that sake) with childish motifs or with texts like "Good night" or "Sweet dreams." I want my clothes to be wearable for several purposes/occasions, and I like playing around with them.
