Angie, I'm sticking to three-month capsules, because when I thought about it, those DO kind of fit with the weather cycles here, even if the changes are more subtle. January-March leans towards chilly and rainy. April-June is generally mild. July-September are the hottest months. And October-December is the big transition, ie: all over the place.
That being said, my "winter" capsule probably looks more like autumn for other people. My "spring" capsule will look like mild summer. "Summer" will probably be all "high summer." And my "autumn" capsule will likely range from tank tops to holiday wear. Looking at my wardrobe as a whole, summer clothing will, for sure, be dominant. Actually, quite a few of the things I passed on with this audit were pieces that just don't work for the climate here, and that I didn't like enough to ever put in a travel capsule.
suntiger, I absolutely LOVE that top. It also got the stamp of approval from my 19yo son, although he declared it would look better on him. Which, to be fair, it probably would. They have the same style in solid colors, too, and I seriously considered duplicating in black or white.
Runcarla and LaPed, I actually am pretty okay with just the two pairs of pants. I happily wear them on repeat without boredom (the jeans can go easily through multiple wears between washes, but the black ponte pants are cat hair magnets, so a bit more finicky).Weather-wise, it's also plenty warm for dresses. This week is the coldest it's been all season, and our highs are still in the mid-50s. I do really miss having some olive utility pants, though. I've tried three new pairs and sent them all back, so this is becoming a bit of a HEWI for me.
shevia, it's always nice to have someone else dressing for the same seasonality I am, and it's fun to see your ever-changing wardrobe.
rachylou, do you do drawers now? I really like having everything visible!
Jessikams, I laughed aloud at the moodboard and cat going together. Having a black and white cat means cat hair shows on -everything-, though.
slim cat, she's a sweetie. We have another cat too, but he's loyal only to my husband.
Jane, I think this might be an example of different screens showing things differently, because I have very little olive in my wardrobe these days. 2/3 of my clothes are black!
Bijou, I just took a peek at the things I let go, and I'd say about half were discarded for wear. The others were mostly because they're too heavy for the weather here or, for a few very old pieces, don't suit my style anymore.
I haven't forgotten the rest of you, but I'm always afraid of accidentally losing my responses, so I'll be back with more.
