LOVE the harem pants. It's high time you got them, Debs.

I love the outfit lines of #4 and #12. They add a little more structure to the slop - if you know what I mean, which looks attractive to my eye. Well done, Ms. Avant Garde Arty Farty Delight. xo

I think you/they look great in #4!

Though I agree with the comment about standing with your legs apart. The pants probably hang better with a more natural stance.

I think part of the fun of these is they are so unconventional and not everyone is going to like them. To me they say the wearer is confident in their skin regardless of others opinion I really like them on you and I think your idea of playing with them awhile before deciding whether to splurge on the EF pair is great. I like #4 the best and #8 next. The structure in the shoulder line of #4 makes them look really intentional and not sloppy.

I like the idea of harem pants and have a few in my wardrobe but with normal/slighty low crotch points.

I have difficulty reconciling myself to the first few looks. I think some alterations like Una suggested might make this garment more versatile in your wardrobe than perhaps in its current avatar. Just a thought. I don't think the hesitation you have got from many in this thread is due to a myopic sartorial viewpoint but by the true opinion that something indeed does look 'off'. I prefer to be diplomatic when an opinion is not sought but since you have asked for our opinions I have expressed my viewpoint ( unabashedly).

I love all the stylings!! With or without structure. I think you can pull the looks off very well. Harem pants are an acquired taste. Deftly not everyone's cup of tea.

Hmm, I love the idea of harem pants for you, Deb, but I'm not sure about these particular ones. I have been coming back a couple of times to this post to see if I can figure out what is bothering me about them, and I think it is the length and the leg opening. The thing is, I like them when you have them pushed up a bit like in #3. On the upper part of your calf, it's not only shorter but the legs fit more tightly. I don't care for the look of the wider opening at the bottom when they are lower down on your leg. In some of the pictures they kind of look like they flare out a little bit.

My only question might seem a little bit perverted. Sorry, but I have to ask: Don't your thighs rub in there?

I know, I know... but I look at them and I think, what's the point of these pants if your thighs aren't covered, so they don't chafe? I would never ask about a skirt because chafing is just a given. But with these, I just wonder and wonder.

Just wanted to jump in to say I love all of your outfits here. You can do no wrong in my book.

I really like the new outfits. I think you should see how much this pair satisfies you in order to decide whether an "upgrade" is needed. I have seen lots of harem pants at Free People too!

#4,8,9,10,11 -- I love the proportions and #4 is my absolute favorite. It feels quite fresh and edgy. I adore your hair tucked behind your ears. Now I will read what the other said

These are manrepellers for sure. The only way I like them is with the vest and high boots. Otherwise they just shine your apple. How tall are you btw? I think the taller you are the better chance you have of pulling off harems. They do make me think of a poopy diaper.

These are SO FUN for you and your style! I was skeptical until #4 which is fantastic! It's far and away my favorite of the lot here, though I like #5 quite a bit also. To my eye these work best with a heel, the flat sandals are less appealing to me.

Deborah, I can definitely see you in harem pants, but as others have said, maybe all harem pants are not created equal? I see how Una's have less of a "pouch." I do like photos 4, 7, and 8 that you posted. I will say that I have a very classic streak to my dressing, so that may be why I prefer Una's pants--hers seem to be more fitted and hence more toward classic fashion. But I would say that if these don't work out for you, I sure wouldn't give up. I would keep looking, because it might be just this particular pair that doesn't play well with your body shape.

Fabulous! These belong in your closet and are a terrific addition to your arty style.

Oh my, such interesting and varied responses. I am proud to now have a man repelling garment in my closet

I think this style is a journey and I will play around a bit more and be sure to post any outfits I actually wear. Thanks so much everyone for weighing in here. Much appreciated.

IK, nearly forgot! Certainly didn't notice thighs rubbing together but perhaps a full day of wear might tell a different story. will let you know:)

I do wear my bike shorts under my harems re the thigh issue...IK is rigbt on...

These are certainly edgy. I quite like the look. I couldnt wear these to work. They would be great for going out.

i'm on the fence on this style, i'm pretty sure that i'm close to toppling on to the yes side, but would love to see how everyone who has them has styled them.

I would not be brave enough to wear these myself, so you must do it for me, so I can live vicariously.

Seriously, I love them on you and think they are totally *you.* Go for it. And, get the EF's too.

I think you ROCK this look and I enjoyed reading your monologue re the process. You look hip and comfortable. Particularly liked images 3 and 4 (and no one can tell they are not the EF ones you crave:))

Came back to this thread to see the new pics. I still don't like them, but obviously others do. I think whoever said that edgy style will definitely provoke strong reactions was right. I like harem pants like these better: http://www.forever21.com/Produ.....&Vari=

Not the quality (I would not recommend F21 for quality at all), but the cut/style. Also, it's my observation that "extreme" versions of a trend do not tend to stand the test of time as long. But I can't wait to see a WIW with your new pants and hear whether people IRL give you compliments, or weird looks, lol! I think around here you'd get weird looks, but if you are in a more urban area maybe people will like them.

Hi Petitesanonymous, thanks for popping back. The pants from F21 look like a subtle slouch pant with tapered legs. They don't actually read as a harem. I understand the attraction. I do have have something similar :). I am not overly trend driven and in my very humble opinion often items that remain on the fringe do have longevity because they are neither in or out:). IRL I live I'm the largest regional centre in my state and for the out part it is very conservative. I have less than a handful of friends here who have any interest in fashion. I will be sure to report back on responses :).
