Why I hate the dry cleaners

They said it was bc they treat dresses as if they are two pieces - top and bottom - so they charge double. I think i would be more ok with it if they were really special delicate dresses. But they were just woven cotton!! Hello, I see a box of dryel in my future...

why can't you just wash them-- are they lined or with doodads on em?

Oooh, I have a cotton summer dress that has needed cleaning since last summer, so I've missed 5/6 of this summer because I won't pay those Women's dress cleaning prices. (And obviously I'm not over the moon for this dress. . . ), but I had forgotten about Dryel, hmmm!

My cleaner does not apply the price for laundering men's shirts to women's shirts. The big sign in the window advertising 99-cent shirt laundering is null and void -- they treat a woman's shirt as a "blouse" and will only dry-clean it. I believe this is because women's shirts don't fit in the automatic pressing equipment that they use for men's shirts, so they have to do them by hand.

I'm very fond of my cleaners, but I believe Gloria Allred won a case years ago making it illegal to charge women more for essentially the same service. Goes for haircuts as well.

I KNOW!!! my DH and I laugh about it all of the time .... we both work in conservative environments so we wear suits all the time .. DH wears a suit and tie everyday. We spend LOADS on dry cleaning. It's NOT even funny. We'll spend almost $200 per month and even though it's mostly his stuff, since my stuff is so expensive we've paid enough so our dry cleaner can send her kids to college.
Plus ... I've had WAY too much stuff ruined at the cleaners ... I'm sad just thinking about it!
