Why both RATE & POLISHED rock

I think of Annie Lennox as Team Polished, the same way I see Gwen Stefani and Beyonce as Team Polished. Deborah Harry and Karen O slide up and down the scale, and the rest of these fab rockers are Team RATE.

This set of pictures is wonderful because they are ALL outrageously stylish as well as edgy and rockers. It's just individual ways of expressing it. i see RATE and polished as just two style choices, akin to whether you like particular colors, or prefer high or low contrast, or solid vs. patterns.

I love this post. Deborah Harry was my idol. I am pretty sure she was the reason I first started coloring my hair!! On one hand she was seriously RATE but her makeup was always immaculate, so could she have been polished RATE? I so wanted to be her.
