Which Land's End coat color?

Hi All,

Sorry I haven't been around much lately - I was away at a conference for a week, and suddenly the semester seems overwhelming. Anyway, I'm having a heck of a time finding a new fall wool coat, to replace my beloved old duffle coat that is falling apart. Land's End is having a 40% off sale thru tomorrow, so I thought I'd try this coat. Which color do you prefer? I like the tweed, but am afraid it won't do much for me color-wise. And what do you think of the style - does it look too conventional and conservative?

Love the purple--I was looking at that today. Of course, I have no where to wear such an animal but you can! Great coat. I was thinking LE had some nice stuff this season.

I also love the purple; I think if you hung it up in a cloak room it would be easier to find, too! My black coat is lost in the sea of black coats!

I can only see the grey one as a thumbnail, but that purple would look gorgeous on you and would probably go with most bottoms too.

Sarah, I think when you go for a more conservative cut, it's good to go with a bold color. Go for the purple!

Also, did you see the one I was lusting after at Talbot's? http://www.talbots.com/online/.....e=cat70008 Lots of colors. It turned out to be a little too generously cut for me, but I was trying the one with Thinsulate -- it could be that the regular version is a little more sleek.

I think the purple will be very versatile. Pair it with grey, taupe, tan, beige, navy, dark green, mustard, etc. looks like a great choice to me!

April, I did try that Talbot's coat, but even in the regular (non thinsulate), the back was very "loose" - it was almost like a fitted coat in front and a swing coat in back. I was swimming in it. And when I sized down to a 2P, the arms were too tight. Too bad, because the color/fabric were gorgeous. I'm thinking of trying their pea coat, since I think that would be very practical to have as well (I'm realizing I don't know what coat I'm going to wear today!).

Yay for that purple! I like April's logic that if the cut is conservative, then the color should be bold.

But Sarah, I have to ask you, does LE actually FIT you?????

I know, I know, they have petites. But on me, even the petites rarely work. In the length, yeah (actually, the length is often too short on them) but they are cut so boxy.

The purple is gorgeous in person. I WANT that coat too. I will say this though, checking the reviews, I found that the biggest complaint about this coat is that the swing at the back is very large and a lot of people think it makes their caboose bigger. IF that concerns you, you may want to pass on this coat. I tried on several of the coats Sears to see how they fit but this wasn't one of them.

I'm taking advantage of the sale myself ... but with a pair of adorable ankle length ponté knit pants.

Love the style Sarah; it's a classic , and definitely not stodgy!
It's definitely worth ordering...and my vote is for purple as well.
