Another tea girl here! We are also big tea drinkers in Turkey, for breakfast, 5pm and after dinner with multiple servings in between as occasion and need arises!:) We like our tea black and I don't take sugar. I mostly prefer to take my tea in my Hello Kitty San Francisco mug for convenience (it is a good size, no need for refills) but Turkish tea is served in pretty tea glasses like this:

(We also use sugar cubes, loose sugar is only used for baking purposes)

Your host would keep filling up your glass unless you indicate that you don't want any more servings by placing your tiny tea spoon over your glass like this:

That's funny that so many of us love the smell of coffee but loathe the taste. I grew up with coffee-drinking parents, and I actually missed the smell a lot when I didn't live with them anymore. (My boyfriend also hates coffee - our first date was to go "out for coffee" only to discover that neither of us actually drinks it.)

I start my day with a big pot of tea, usually a flavored black blend, or sometimes flavored rooibus. I make it pretty strong and don't add anything into it. (When I go out for tea, I actually do like to have a little cream and sugar - just not at home.)

Oh yes Bella - the tea in Turkey was lovely - I normally don't like black tea, but the Turkish version was yum! I think I put in about a 1/4 of the amount of sugar than the average turkish person though.

I also really like proper mint tea made the Moroccan way poured from an arms length up or more!

Kari isn't it strange, i too say "shall we meet for coffee" but i never drink the stuff it just sounds strange saying "shall we meet for tea"
I dread to think how much tea i drink! 1 with breakfast, 1 when i get to work, 1 when i have my break, 1 when we come in from the playground (x2)................ x

Kari and Louise - I do this too! Never drink coffee, but "go out" for it

Louise, let's see if I can rival you in tea consumption
After breakfast 2
Mid morning 1
After lunch 2
After nap 1
After tea 2
That makes 8 and that is my absolute minimum! (often more in the afternoon)

I have it medium strength, plenty of semi skimmed milk, no sugar. I prefer Dilmah, but drink Fair Trade when we can get it (Scarborough Fair is our favourite)

I often have an additional cup or two of liquorice tea too

I limit myself to one cup a day- the way that I take it is more like desert, so I can't drink it all day. I just starting having daily coffee in November- before that it was once a week.

Coffee drinker here. Two small cups each morning with 1 tbsp half and half. It whitens up the coffee best

Whenever I had the good luck to visit the UK, I drank tea like there was no tomorrow. Either it's the milk or the water there, but it just tastes better than it does here!

For me it's black tea (Keemun), plain. I don't brew it extra-strong, but enough to enjoy the flavor. I also like light oolong teas, but it's more of a treat. I don't use tea bags, but in the past my only good experience with bagged tea was with the British Whittard brand. Maybe they just use better tea for bags in UK and in general, it seems like there you can get a decent pot in any hole in the wall.
I drink coffee very rarely, and it's usually Turkish coffee. I like how a little bit of sugar enhances the taste. I haven't been to Portugal, but I loved coffee in Spain, is it similar? It was strong, but not over-roasted, and I like that.

This is a really cool thread! And made me realize how many ways I love coffee and tea and don't spend much time or effort to indulge in either on a daily basis. I should though.
Favorite way to enjoy coffee: medium roast, french pressed, with 1tsp sugar some milk.
Favorite tea: 1. Darjeeling Makaibari blend, black, tiny bit of sugar
2. The real home made masala tea with Assam blend...similar to the one that is sold in diluted form in Starbucks.
3. Any variety brewed with ginger or sometimes pepper...soothing when I get a cold.
Love the smell and taste of good coffee. But the Folgers at work that just sits there in a pot for hours is disgusting.

I normally drink peppermint or Earl Grey tea.

In terms of real tea, I drink good old fashioned Irish breakfast tea without any milk as I'm lactose intolerant but this only happens when there are no herbal tea options.

It was fun to read all these replies and get new ideas.

I drink tea daily and coffee on special occasions, like "going out for coffee"

My current favorites are Chai Rooibos (with cream), Orange Vanilla Rooibos (also with cream) and herbal peppermint (no cream).

If I make coffee at home, its in a french press, and with cream.

No artificial creamers for me ... just pure heavy cream.

No coffee, no tea, no soda: not because I'm virtuous but simply because I don't really like them. But I love to drink freshly squeezed OJ/ grapefruit juice and I chug at least a litre of water every day.
