I'm bringing this thread back because it is TG eve! I'm SO excited for the food! WOOHOO!

I'll be baking pies today, ladies! What about you guys? Have you started the preparations yet?

Angie, I think TG is my favorite holiday even though I am not American. I have lived all over, but I consider myself to have a true Caribbean soul. I grew up in Belize (part of the Caribbean community), but my family roots are from Spain and El Salvador. We do have something similar to TG, but we do not do big dinners. It is mostly about the fruit because it is the time of year when it is plentiful. So you go out and binge on fruit that day, which is very healthy coming to think of it.

Muequita, I agree with you that TG is the best holiday! EVERYONE can get into the spirit -- doesn't matter where you came from or what religion you are.

It's a feel-good day!!

I am going to pick up our turkey from the butcher later. This year I am trying to roast it in one of those bags -- usually I cover it in cheesecloth and baste it that way for the first couple of hours -- we'll see how it goes.

My mom sent me Il Divo's new CD to play VERY LOUDLY while preparing the turkey. It's gonna be one fun Thanksgiving Day!

I've been cooking all morning to prepare: the cheesy-horseradish mashed potatoes are done, as is the cornbread-and-sausage stuffing. There's a batch of peanut-butter-chip brownies in the oven, and I'm contemplating making some homemade applesauce.

What I've discovered is that it is pretty warm in my kitchen! So now I'm rethinking my outfit for tomorrow; I've been picking up some cute thin patterned tops at Old Navy and Target lately, and I think pairing one of them with a 3/4-sleeve cardigan mostly unbuttoned may be the way to go. I'm undecided between my denim skirt and a pair of boots, or my dark wash jeans and a nice heel, but I'll make that call tomorrow. The skirt choice depends on how much breathing room there. That stuffing is tasty! LOL!

I'm Canadian, so we already had Thanksgiving back in October. I'm still dreaming of that turkey. I'm mainly vegetarian but I'll eat meat at others' homes. My dad makes the most divine brined turkey... It's celestial.

I wore a tweed skirt, a deep blue cashmere sweater with short sleeves, tights, and my Isotoner pink ballet slippers (we don't wear shoes inside in Canada).

I hope all of you who are celebrating today have a wonderful holiday!

Oh, and Angie, count this as another request for the bread pudding "recipe," pretty please!

Thanks for bringing back the thread exotic, Muequita! Us non-Americans who love Thanksgiving is sort of fabulous don’t you think? Laura puts it so well – it’s a holiday that cuts across age, religion and nationality. It’s a beautiful holiday and I can’t wait to celebrate. On that note, I need to prep the pudding. That way I can remember precisely how I make it so that I can write it down for those who are interested. I’m going to follow Laura’s way and pop the music on really loud so that we can boogie while we bake.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I found a picture of us on Thanksgiving. Here is what we wore:

Me:
Express jacket and blouse
CK jeans
Aerosole Ride Line boots

Him:
Express vest
JCrew shirt
Mark Ecko jeans
Kenneth Cole shoes

GREAT picture. You are a very good looking couple. I love the way both of you are dressed.

You both look fabulous, Sarah!

We had a large gathering of family at our house on Thanksgiving and I spent the whole day in the kitchen cooking. I did want to look nice for the actual dinner so I changed into a purple BR print wrap top (with some ruching to accommodate the expanding waistline) , a black cardigan and my loose jeans and had just enough time to neaten up my hair & put on some makeup.

As I was reviewing the pictures on my husband's camera though, I noticed a couple of awful pictures of me before I had a chance to change wearing pajama bottoms, a long sleeve t-shirt covered in splatters & flour and fuzzy slippers. Definitely not the glamorous image I was trying to portray!

Aw, you guys look so great, Sarah! Are you feeling better yet?

Sarah, you both looked amazing! How is your recovery going?

Thanks for asking, I'm doing much better. I'm going to go for a run tonight, so I think that pretty much indicates that I'm near perfect health.
