I would be interested to hear about your wallet preferences. I have been carrying this one from Hobo for years (maybe 10?). I received it as a gift from my sister-in-law, who has great taste, is super-organized, and is a bit of a product maven. It is fantastic. Beautiful quality, room for everything, keeps me organized. I get lots of compliments on it. However, it is quite large and forces me to use a relatively large handbag. Sometimes I wish I had a more compact option. I have been thinking on this for years but it would be hard to give up the great organization of this wallet.

I like a wallet with room for everything too - paper money, a zipped coin pocket, credit card slots, and some space for all the misc. bits like appt. cards from the dentist or receipts. I have a Lodis wallet, from Nordstrom several years ago, that works well. Lodis is at Nordstrom and Nordstrom rack. Check their own website for the widest selection. Nice smooth leathers.

I've always had a leather wallet. My latest one is nylon and zips around. My old one was very fat and hard to fit in any of my purses.

I use a small leather bifold coach wallet. It can fit in my back jeans pocket, which is one of my considerations.

I think my next one is going to be without a zip pocket as I never use coins (and hardly even use cash) these days so the coin pocket is just taking up unnecessary space. I actually like a lot of men's wallets because they are more streamlined.

I am between wallets. I am using a coin zipper wallet. It holds everything I need and I have been using it for a few years. I have not been able to find the right wallet.
I carry ID, cards, cash and coins. I do pay in cash (farmer`s markets, produce stands, Sophie`s groomer, etc) and I need coins. Most wallets seem to have small coin pockets.

I switch out among 2/3 depending on the season. Bright pink long Coach for summer, olive/black studded Coach (I guess I like their wallets) zippered long one for fall/winter, and a cobalt Danier travel/style long one for spring and the odd trip here and there. I can't deal with foldover short wallets - I like to be able to stick my phone in a wallet when I can.

I too carried the Hobo 'Lauren' for a long time but switched over to a credit card case since I rarely carry cash. It keeps all credit and appointment cards very visible--also it's extremely light and takes up very little space. Unfortunately, the zip pocket is slightly narrow to store dollar bills--they tend to get caught in the zipper.

I have a purple and citron floral version of this wallet from Target. I've carried various styles of this same wallet forever. It's the perfect size for me. I tried a Hobo one, but had trouble getting my cards in and out of it. So Target it is.

I carry a small wristlet from Fossil. It's a green color verging on mint. The wristlet strap is detachable. The wallet snaps shut, and inside there is a window for your ID, plus five spots for cards. There is a small pouch inside for bills, and a little zip pouch on the side for coins.

I went on the Fossil site but don't see the wallet I have. I got it at the outlet, so maybe it is discontinued.

The size is about 6 inches by 3 inches by 1 inch.

I love this wallet. It has just enough space for the essentials, so it's not too big. Plus, I can use it on its own if I'm traveling light, thanks to the wristlet strap.

I have a small bifold Longchamp (similar to the one pictured below) that I got on sale about four years ago that still looks great. It fits what I need without extra bulk. I don't bother with a coin purse. This one has a snap coin holder but I don't use it much -- any coins I accumulate get emptied into a change jar when I get home.

I like a smaller wallet because I can fit it in my clutches and smaller bags with more room for eyeglass case, etc. I also like being able to fit it in a jacket pocket if I'm running out quickly for a simple errand.

I love hobo wallets for their super organization styles. I currently have the alice. Seems like a smaller version of what you have. Here is the one I currently have/use and love.

I haven't carried a wallet in 10 years, and don't miss it.

Instead, I use a fold-over leather card case. It's the size of a business card, and I carry my ID, debit and Visa card, health insurance card, metro card, and a couple of other random cards in it. That's it. My little card card is bright orange, which I love, and I can always find it in my handbag. Plus, it fits in all my bags, no matter how small, as well as in my pants pocket without distorting the shape of the pocket. When I'm just out running errands, I don't even carry a handbag, so just stick the case in a pocket. I don't carry cash, but use my debit card instead.

Just a plain black one. I almost always have a handbag. If I need to have a clutch it is too fat so I take out ID, a credit card and a little cash to put in the clutch. Please excuse my foot in the pic holding it open!

I use a leather wallet with multiple sections to keep organized for the majority of the time, because I almost always carry a handbag. When traveling I downsize significantly and use a small security wallet, similar to the one shown.

I've had a small card carrier from Alchemy Goods (they make accessories out of old bike tubes) for about a decade: https://www.alchemygoods.com/c.....out-wallet

I carry ID, debit and credit card, health insurance card, and I usually try to remember to carry a bit of cash too. Can't imagine carrying something that doesn't fit in pants pockets. (I do save receipts and change, but never in my wallet; they go either in my pocket or in my bag, and then get sorted into storage containers at home.)

It’s fun to read what works for different people. I am very impressed by those of you who stay organized with only a billfold. I am thinking you all must be very disciplined about putting appointment, receipts, etc. away in the right place as soon as you get home.

Binkle, good tip about Lodis. It seems to have similar space to mine but a slightly smaller profile.

Style Fan, that is one of the things I like about the Hobo so much, is that it’s so easy to see and access the coins.

Mtnsofthemoon, that does look similar but slightly smaller. Could be the ticket for me.

Most recently I had a Furla zip around wallet with a removable patent leather coin purse. It was great quality, but finally it required replacement.
In line with minimising + streamlining many things in my life, I have downsized to a black ponyhair clutch style wallet with room for about 5-6 essential cards, cash + coins. It accommodates my phone, so it can be used as a clutch + I can go out without a handbag if I wish. I love that it is lighter, more compact, yet still smart looking without necessarily looking like a 'traditional' wallet.

I carry as little as I can, so go for a purse most days, but sometimes I will just carry the little red cardholder shown here.

On other days, I have a lovely Marc Jacobs wallet that takes my phone and cards and coins.

I've gone through all sorts of wallets from large to small, but my favorite of all is a trifold leather wallet from Big Skinny. I love it! I've had it for years. It was inexpensive. It is lightweight, and it is smaller than any other wallet I have tried which allows me to fit more and still carry a small purse if I want.

I'm following this thread with interest as I've been in the wallet doldrums for a while.

I wish I could be as spare as most of you in this thread, but I like to carry lots in my wallet: cards (including a variety of professional membership IDs, insurance etc.), useful business cards, pics of my kid, cash, who knows what else.

I'm almost embarrassed to share the wallet I use here (partly because I don't love it); it's called "Big Fat Wallet" and it is an inexpensive fake leather product I got on Amazon. I can certainly fit all my stuff in a clearly organized way, but the wallet is indeed too big and fat. It got so heavy I had to cull down the contents because it was weighing my handbag down. Also it doesn't really look very good in person.

My ideal wallet would be a little lighter and slimmer but still with enough compartments to fit a variety of items as I described above. Years ago BR had a beautiful cowhide one that I gave to my mom as a gift; to this day I regret not having bought one for myself.

I'm thinking of experimenting with the Madewell leather pouch, which some people use as a wallet. I got one on sale that's lovely in cognac with whimsical golden pineapples printed on it, but I haven't given it a try yet. I don't super like the idea that the top-zipper opening won't give me such easy access to the contents, but there are many rave reviews of people who use it as a wallet when carrying a large tote, and then simply bring it with them as a clutch on occasions when they don't need the tote.

I have a cheapo Merona cardholder which fit my needs perfectly before part of it split. Now that i know that style works as well for me as I'd hoped, I may ask for a nice one for Christmas. Before this, I used a purse with slots for cards and a pocket for bills. Before that, a tiny Fossil pouch that my phone didn't fit into.

I've had this one by Liebeskind Berlin for years. Love the size (it fit an old german id in the back, if you know the size). It has enough room for bills and coins and enough card slots for everything important - and too few to lug unnecessary stuff around. I like that it forces me to keep the amount I carry down. And the zipper makes it feel quite secure. The size fits in (almost) any bag.

Ok, right now I have everything in little zip soft material bags. One holds my money folded in half, coins, ID, credit cards, doctor's business cards for DH and I, and other important info. Another one for rewards cards. Another one for gift cards and discount coupons. One for makeup. One big one for most everything else except water bottles.

I've carried variations on the Coach accordion zippy wallet for years. They have tremendous amounts of space, plenty of credit card slots, many divisions and a zipper pocket for coins. I generally use one for about two years before finding one I think I need again, although the ones I am no longer using still look and feel new, so they are tough and long-lasting.

I carry a green genuine crocodile wallet my DH bought me when we went to Nicaragua. We got it from a lady who makes them, not from a souvenir shop, and we made sure it was not made from an endangered crocodile (anything made from endangered crocodile is illegal to bring into the states). The walker holds a lot, so I'm happy with it.

Barbara Diane, you reminded me that I also carry a separate card holder for rewards cards. The whole rewards cards phenomenon is out of hand theses days.

Astrid! So nice to hear from you. I was feeling homesick for Berlin when I discovered some Liebeskind products sold locally in a store here recently. I know what you mean about the size. My husband needs a new wallet and I don't think we can find the right thing this side of the ocean. Also hard to find a man's wallet here with a coin purse. In fact a man's wallet is frequently just called a "billfold" here.

Angie, your post made me smile because what I finally lit upon for myself was essentially the corresponding wallet that goes with my ruby Furla. Slightly different closure style. I would have been tempted by yellow, though, had it been available. I love a bright wallet. For me it came down to a decision between Furla and Marc Jacobs, but the Furla for a better price had much better workmanship and more color options.

For some reason I have been getting wallets as birthday presents over the last couple of years from different people so I have built quite a collection. I have both, big and small ones, neutrals and colorful. But my favorite that I carry all the time is this big silver one. I use others when I travel in countries with different currency so that I don't mix the coins.
