Interesting! A lot of people are over the ruffles, cardigans (both twinsets and cascading long cardigans) and skinnies. I admit I went through a cardigan twinset purge when I first joined YLF, but then missed some of them and now I have bought some replacements. I wear my red cascading cardigan a lot actually. And I do wear skinny jeans a lot. And I still love ruffles (maybe not to excess anymore, but I love a bit of ruffle trim, because it's so ladylike). So maybe I'm a little behind the times since I just joined and started wearing these trends this year, I haven't had enough time to get sick of them yet? Also, I think my style tends to be more ALGO than minimal so I still like some interesting details. I did get rid of a couple of old super ruffly/embellished Anthro tops though. I think my style is evolving to become ALGO through mixing textures and patterns rather than embellishments.
I am thinking of more reasons why I'm not as excited about animal print and colored denim. First is that when DH hates certain pieces of clothing on me, it limits my enthusiasm for wearing it if I can't wear it around him or he teases me about my clothes (like those H&M floral pants). He's generally supportive and compliments me on most of my wardrobe, but if there's stuff he hates, he definitely lets me know about it!
Also, some of my skinny jeans are really digging into my muffin top--I think I've gained about 4-5 lb and some of my jeans are getting tight. I've been doing the Jillian Michaels 30-day shred to try to combat this.
And I don't mind animal print in small doses (like my leopard heels or necklace), I just am less enamored of the big swaths of animal print like coats and dresses. Which is kind of ironic because I was recently pining over the Banana Republic safari collection and wore one of my H&M safari dresses! Maybe I'd rather be on safari than in the safari!
I agree with MaryK about being "over" scarves too. I feel like I never really got into them, but I bought a bunch when I joined YLF because everyone seemed to be sporting them and they are a great way to "finish" an outfit. But I'm finding that they're kind of fussy and not my style and hard to integrate into my lifestyle (kind of hard to do procedures when you're wearing a scarf). So scarves are relative orphans in my wardrobe. When I wear them I kinda feel like I'm "trying too hard" (like in Angie's blog post).
And Angie is right about the higher priced statement pieces being keepers. I already posted in MaryK's thread, but investment pieces like my Kate Spade trench and Frye boots are keepers and I don't think I'll ever get tired of them!
