I am going to go wholeheartedly with Cardiff girl here. I think #5 is just stunning on you. IMO, this isn't the time to go with something loose and flowy - first, it is winter, and second, they strike me as too casual for cocktail attire. The blue floral is too summery. #5 hits all the right notes of formality and flattery.

Good grief! Before reading any other replies—it’s a tough choice. You look fabulous in all the black outfits. Anyone would look so great. The blue floral looks like a fun choice as well. Ok, not helpful. Lucky you to look so good in so many outfits.

Love the suit on you. It’s chic and classy.

My first impulse was the lace dress, because you look so comfortable and happy in it. I like the trouser suit too. I think a lot depends on how you feel about your high school experience though.

Such a range of opinions. I tried on the lace last night over a nude slip which emphasises the lace. I will try on again and style.

I had a mostly good school experience- I am embarrassed about some aspects of course, teenage life has a cringe factor. But I look at the whole picture and think we were young and foolish. I have some friends who just won’t go due to their feelings.

My takeaway here is that a new black blazer in a quality design might be a good investment. Mine was a second hand purchase from a mid range chain (Decjuba) and whilst it’s nice, it’s not as sharp as it could be. I also realised that in the picture in the suit it’s not my blazer but a hired tuxedo jacket - for James Bond. I could wear my yellow blazer but I don’t love yellow and black on me.

I think the black lace is perfect. You could bring a couple of different shoe options to dress it up or down once you see the crowd.

I will do a try on of them all again I think.

The sheath is probably the most flattering knock - em - down dress I have owned. It might need shape wear and it does require a strapless bra. I am not a different size but it deserves a try on again. The floral is really lovely and comfortable and could be a good option too, and the lace does fit perfectly and is ready to go.

I will rule out the navy last dress and I think the pleated because it doesn't feel special enough. And I think the black one won't be as nice without the hired tuxedo jacket so I might not wear that either (unless I decide to hire it again).

I also have a 60th superhero party, a couple of nice meals out and a 50th celebration (which I may well wear the pleated dress with flat sneakers and a jacket).

Late here Sally but I like both 3 and 4. The others seem a bit too summery or not quite the same wow factor.

Have fun!

I tried these on today. I have covid and so am stuck at home. On the mend but obviously looking a bit drained.

No shapewear worn - nor makeup.

I need a new black slip and if I was to choose nude, I would also get a new one as I don’t like the undertone.

I still have not ruled out my other options but it has been a longer time since these were worn.

The lace one needs a careful press and it would be slightly longer.

It is winter but I have coats and wrap options.

Either would work, but #2 is ah-mazing on you! I like the black slip under the lace dress a titch more than the nude slip.

I am not sure about the nude slip either - I don't know why? This one is a bit too beige (boring bra beige - you know the colour).

The sheath is the perfect LBD for me in terms of shape. It does have a back cut out but I can wear a strapless bra. It's just been a while since I wore something so body con....I feel a bit rusty on it.

Gorgeous options! I agree #2 is fabulous but I really like #1 also, and in some settings that would be more the look I'd want. It kind of depends if you want to go for date night stunning or focus on my face but I still look like Charlie's favorite angel. If that doesn't make sense ignore please ignore .

Thanks Rachy and Lana!

Yes that's it Jaime - I have messaged the photos to my sisters (one whom is going - she is wearing a navy slip silk bias midi dress) and one who is not.

Sal you can't go wrong with any of these, you look glam and gorgeous.

I like how with #3 you see the detail of the lace and think a less pink more tan nude slip would be lovely. I had a black lace dress and wore it with a burgundy slip which made for a nice change from the solid black.

Glad you are recovering well.

Thanks Bijou - I was actually thinking a coppery slip would be nice. This nude is not the right nude, and is a little bit long as well.

Slips are not that easy to find are they - my black one has stretched strap meaning it slips down. As soon as I am out of isolation I am going to pop into our local department store or a boutique and get two new ones.

My absolute favourite is the black lace dress with the black slip - chic and classy !

Sorry about having covid. Hope you recover quickly

anyway #3! FAB chic, classy and current

I vote for #2 too!

Ooh I love #3, the lace with nude slip. That is such a fabulous dress and the nude slip shows it off. You really can't go wrong with any of these though.

Another vote for #2!

Will you be warm enough?

1 or 2 gets my vote.

#2 is gorgeous and I think it's the winner here! Do you have a wrap you can wear?

I'm sorry about the Covid and hope you get better soon!

You look amazing in both dresses. Dress 2 (middle pic) is more sexy, certainly you can carry that off if you feel like it?
( I was quite gratified at my school reunion in 2011, when I was 50, meeting some of the ex-teenage boys again and one saying “Oh yes, I remember you” with quite the appreciative look!- I forget his name now, ha ha). Otherwise I love the black lace dress with the black slip rather than the nude slip. But if you can find a coppery slip that will be great too. Should have got some bronze shoes those few years ago after all

The second black dress in your latest pictures is amazingly flattering.

Thank you all. I haven’t worn the black sheath dress since 2019 - there’s been no reason to! So I wanted to check that it still felt comfortable.

I will sit on it - two weeks to go. I will check out slips, and consider my options for jackets and wraps. And see what others are wearing. I am sure that I will be asked that:)

I will report back with a photo after the night.

I love the suit - you look stunning and like one of the pretty ladies in a Bond film in it! That said, I'm not a dress girl.

Thanks Texstyle. I realised a day or two after posting that this is a hired tuxedo jacket - my black one is not as nice. My son has a school ball/prom a few days ahead and he is borrowing my BIL tuxedo - if that fits I might wear that with the black pants. Mine won’t be as good.

I think I have room for a really good quality black blazer - something to add to my list.

The black sheath (#2 in the pic above) is stunning! It’s a great fit and really flatters you. The length is perfect too - so elegant.
