They are a little wide but they wouldn't be overly wide with jeans. I do think they come up too high on the side. That might be personal preference though.

Thanks again Gigi. I actually have a personal stylist at Nordstrom, and we tried a bunch of stuff - nothing works. My feet are finicky, and a teensy bit wider at toe box, plus I'm super-duper particular. I've tried on SO many boots at this point. They either hurt or I hated them. I've gone to Nordstrom, Saks, Bloomingdales, Zappos, etc.

If these Fryes don't fit me properly, then I'll be giving up until next year again, unfortunately. Perhaps it just wasn't meant to be for me!

I think the boots look great! How do they feel?

JAileen - they feel great. I love the color. The exact color I was hoping for!

If those don't work out, would you consider JCrew? My boots from there have been fantastic quality. They have two styles right now in a warm brown. My feet are right between a regular and wide foot, and wearing the larger of my two regular sizes in JCrew works for me.

I have three pairs of Fryes - two pairs of Melissa Button, in Black, and Fawn, and Campus in Brown (kind of British Tan) with lug soles. I love love love them. They are such high quality and so beautiful. I hope you love yours.

JAileen, do your fryes fit big around the calf in the same way?

In the Campus boot I can just barely fit four fingers. I wear mid weight hiking socks with them. In the Melissa Button boot I can just barely fit three fingers. I wear slightly lighter weight socks with them. My calves are average I think. Neither big nor small. I don't wear skinny jeans, and wear both of these styles with pants over them, or with skirts. I primarily wear boots in winter because my feet and ankles get too cold otherwise.

I just got these in the mail (from Nordstrom Anniversary sale), in the brown:

I like them, but I am wondering about a few things:

1. The right boot is slightly tight at the pinky toe. I assuming since these are leather they will stretch? I could even give them to Nordstrom to stretch out a bit on that foot.

2. The leather is stiff on these. Will they soften with time? I am actually hoping they would, because they almost feel too stiff at this point!

I don't have a picture of them on me, but can do that later today.

Just got my FRYE veronica back zip in Cognac. I'm in love.

I have boots in black, chocolate brown and cognac (both tall and ankle) and they cover all outfits I wear. Chocolate brown works really well with warm, bright colors such as burned orange, mustard yellow and fuchsia, while cognac works super well with deep neutrals like black, brown and navy. Black is my dressy color when I want to look professional and/or dressed up. So depends on the wardrobe one may find more use in one or the other, and I suspect most women have more black/navy than lighter shades, and hence cognac ends up being an excellent choice.
