What is this?

This floral garment looks like something a friend would absolutely love. But what is it called? And where can it be bought?

It looks like it could be made in a Liberty lawn fabric, so I'm happy for sewing pattern suggestions as well as for retail leads.

Maybe a batwing sleeve top?

Flutter sleeves? Bat wing ruffle? Hanging sleeve? It looks like it was a square that was folded in two and sewn halfway from the bottom to make for the armoholes, and then a half-circle was cut out into the folded part of the fabric in order to create a head hole.

I like the simplicity and that it may be as cool as sleeveless in hot weather but with coverage. Short bat wing sleeves may be the most accurate. A simple sleeveless shell pattern with a set in circular shaped sleeve cut to hang asymmetrically may come close.

Batwing sleeve top. I think it is rather pretty, but feel like it would be better for a taller person. I do not know, just my opinion. I am so short I could not see it on me. You are a very thoughtful person, thinking of your friend.

Very pretty, and it looks great on the singer. It looks like basically a poncho style, and it's lined, at least on the sleeves, so you don't see the underside of the fabric inside the sleeves.

Here's a pattern. (I've made this pattern once, and it's very easy; the pattern even shows you where to sew seams into the poncho for the "sleeves.") You would need to put buttons up the front (or back, if you put the opening in the back.

I'm not sure, I've seen batwing sleeves on store websites sometimes. It's a fun shape to the sleeve though.

Thank you, all! And thank you for the pattern, Firecracker. I won't attempt it myself, but have been happy with a few projects done by a local art student. This seems to be within his skill range.

Bridgie, this will almost certainly not be a classically flattering look for this particular friend. But she would enjoy wearing it, and her smile when she's in clothing she loves makes everything look "just flattering enough" if not better.

I think it's so very pretty. I would agree that it's a flutter sleeve. Well it might not be universally flattering as short petite chunky women it covers up some things but also it's very pretty very nice looking I say go for it. What a beautiful gift for your friend and thoughtful.
