Sorry for being such a forum hog lately

Just after thanksgiving (1.5 weeks ago) I got invited to a “formal” holiday party for the first time in over a decade. “Formal” means in a hotel, but it's a “whatever you want” dress code and probably mostly a business casual holiday vibe, not really formal at all. I had NOT been following Angie’s advice in her posting today, so I started on online hunt.

This jacket caught my eye at Macys.com. Really like the style, the color, and though it might work because it’s a petite size. I ordered it along with the coordinating pants, which I thought might not work but decided to try anyway.

I really like the jacket, but in my newly-adjusting-eye toward a more “current” classic style, I think it’s too small, too snug a fit. I prefer the buttons closed. One size up would be better. Macys is the only place I’ve found that carries DKNY in petite sizes, and they were sold out of sizes larger than this one. Also, the pant style is, as I suspected, not flattering. The high rise paper bag waist style is made for a taller-waisted straighter body shape.

I have a backup plan for the party so good there. I don’t have or need many blazers for my lifestyle but I really like this one and will put a jacket like this on my shopping list going forward.

The pants are going back, and probably the jacket. In theory I've learned the "buy ahead" lesson but time will tell if it has sunk in
