Well, Angie, make room on the bench for someone else who can't figure out the attraction of all that hair in her face. Maybe too much time in Scotland?

I also like your hair as it is, Una. But just as a show of support, I'll let on that I got sick of my current hair cut, or at least out of love with it, within a week. I'd like to go shorter on the sides, whether a pixie or not...but I'm sure I'll get sick of that or regret it too! Hair is just one easy target of boredom and frustration.
Una we need to find a way to make the ends of your hair curl up like Aeon Flux's :}

ETA photo!

That happens all the time when I tuck it behind my ear! HAHA! Now I just need to slink around in skin-tight spandex...
I don't know what it takes, but I'm pretty sure I don't have it. I used to wear my hair pixie-short, with some volume on top, and I loved that cut. When I tried to return to it later in life, it did not work at all the same on me. Still, I have such pixie envy! Sometimes my hairdresser really has to talk me down off the pixie ledge. He very calmly says, "Why don't we take it up a little shorter in the back and leave the sides longer, like so, in the front?"
@Gaylene: ROTFLMAO!
My nose is pretty big but I think pixie suits me - and nobody in their right mind can call my features delicate! I have pretty nice ears though, maybe this counteracts it? <wink to Nicole>
However Una, I think you rock angled asymmetric bob like nobody else and this is the cut I really love on you!
Angie, make the room for me on that bench as well - nolove for that hair here also!

I have short hair, an oval face and delicate features, EXCEPT for my big nose!
Una, I like your hairstyle the way it is, but I get how you feel - I change hairstyles a lot as I get tired of the same thing. Once you go short, though, you can't change styles as often because you have to wait for your hair to grow out.
A good hair cut with a little texture/volume/highlights makes all the difference when done by a good stylist. I don't know if my hairstyle makes my nose look bigger or not...I shudder at the thought...
I have big nose and I love my pixie. I might even bleach it like Agyness Deyn.
Una, I have come to the conclusion that I like the look of my short hair, but I just don't feel it is 100% me. Which is fine, it was an experiment. I don't regret it at all, as I've never played with my hair like this before. Trying to figure out what to do next. Might go back to this... anyway the point of my story is that I trust my stylist to at least make me look attractive. Sounds like yours is a good one to experiment with, too. I'd like to see what pictures you come up with as inspiration!

I like your current hair.
How about these?

I love the Barbra Streisand pixie shot.

I am delighted that my impulsive haircut has gone over well, but remember I only posted one picture, and, trust me, there are others that are less flattering to say the least. I certainly do not have perfect skin, even features (my face is very asymmetrical and my mouth is completely crooked) or a long neck.

You look pretty great as you are Una and Ibut I don't see anything inherent in your gorgeous face that disqualifies a pixie or other short cut. You have gorgeous skin btw.

I now want to see Raisin in short hair!
Just a little moxie...and I'm sure you have plenty
I don't have delicate features or a long neck, but I love my short hair.
Una, I also luv your current style. Maybe try a different asymetrical cut before you try a pixie?
You look great with the current cut, Una. But I get the feeling of being bored.

Still, the pixie does take a commitment -- when you get bored it takes a long time to grow out. So if it doesn't feel "you," that can be a problem.

I think LOTS of face shapes and hair textures can wear a short cut. It all depends on the cut, as Echo and a few others said.

As I've said before, my hair actually behaves its best at a super short length - wash and wear, with no fuss except frequent cuts (which I must admit I don't always manage often enough -- I should go every five weeks but usually wait longer. And then it starts to look like a no-style.

I don't have the "perfect" face for a pixie. My face is angular and on the long side, not a perfect oval. My head is large in proportion to my body. My ears are big and not very pretty. (My high school best friend earnestly told me to cover them up because they were so unsightly.) According to that test that Imogen posted, I definitely should not wear a pixie, as my jaw is far longer than the measurement she proposes, and that is supposed to make me look "masculine." My nose is not large but it is not fine and pretty, either.

I DO have eyes on the large side and cheekbones. And as my stylist says, my hair "likes" to be this length. Most of all, because I have been wearing it for almost all my life, short hair feels like "me" and so I'm easy and confident, wearing a short cut.
Una, I love you current style but totally get how you are feeling. Maybe just slowly work towards where you think you want to go. I did post some Kate Lanphear pics and am still considering a version of her cut. My stylist says my hair will work in that cut, and that we can modify it so it's a neater version:). But, I'm moving slowly, starting with growing out my fringe into a longer version like Kate's. I think it's worth really thinking it through, and being very intentional, and taking it in stages.
I love your current cut on you, but I get that you feel bored with your hair. I'm bored with mine too. I had it long (chinlength to end of shoulder blades) for a while now and I don't feel all that fab in it anymore. Even though my hair plays into my style persona.

I don't have a long neck or dainty features either and I have small eyes (they look bigger through the glasses), but I loved my pixie. Problem was I didn't have a stylist who could deal with my hair, so it looked good very short and then was a pain in the neck growing out. Pic #1 is very short, my second round with a pixie when I was seventeen. Pic #2 is when I was growing it out with fifteen after the first time I had a pixie. The last time I started to grow my hair out was with eighteen and I haven't worn it short since then.

Suz's response could have been my response. To me the most important factor in rocking a pixie cut is having hair that behaves at that short length. Like Suz, my hair just seems to want to go this way and takes all of 5 minutes to do in the morning. I believe you could wear a razored, choppy pixie no problem Una and I do understand about being bored with your hair. I'm sort of at that point myself these days but I know this is the cut that suits me best and I'd be sorry in the end if I changed it.

I think your hair as it is is a HUGE part of your style and looks beyond fantastic on you. I'd be so afraid you'd regret chopping it off.
Una, have you tried one of those websites where you upload a picture of yourself and then you can try different hairstyles out? I'm at work right now and can't spend time searching the web, but I did that before I got my current cut. It's sort of fun and gives you an idea how different cuts work.

I think your current style looks good on you but I get bored with my hair easily too. Just remember that hair grows back, so nothing you do is permanent. If you get it cut short and don't like, it will grow out.
I think there is no consensus on who suits a pixie.

I have sported the pixie several times through my life and always return to mid length hair, for me (who is easily bored) this length allows for maximum variety: up, down, straight, curly and everything inbetween.

I do think there is a shorter style for you Una, I can see you keeping the length at the front but undercutting the sides into a Tilda Swinton style do. With a cut of this nature you can wear it conservatively for court and with added funk on play days.

Una, maybe just a less extreme change would be good? You have such great hair - thick, shiny, beautiful color - I kind of hate to see it all gone in a pixie. Have you tried a side swept bang before? I have to keep my bangs shorter as my hair is fine and doesn't stay put well enough, but I love the look of longer side-swept bang and wish I could do it. There are so many mid-length options, I think I'd go for one of those first. As Rae demonstrated, she may go back to that herself and I tend to agree with her.
I think it requires good, balanced bone structure and a willingness to go to the stylist often to get it trimmed. I have neither so I will not be going pixie.

I like your hair as is!
Wow, fascinating responses! And I guess the undercurrent here is "don't do it" - since Rae got a lot more "yay, go for it!" Guess my hair has indeed become a signature style whether I'm sick of it or not. I hugely appreciate the honesty and all the comments. Pixies seem to be one of those endlessly debated style moves, I found so many sites devoted to them.

SaraL, I may do one of those programs like you've suggested, just to experiment. How realistic are they?
(Holy cow, the right photo of Tilda Swinton from that link is just brilliant!! LOVE that hair.)
I'm not sure what it takes, but I know it when I see it (sort of like the Supreme Court!). Sounds like you have opted against going there, at least for now. Maybe just a shorter bob (i.e., shorter in the front)? Still jagged and razored.

Love all things Tilda Swinton, including her haircut.
Just a side note to say that my comment is just my perception, presented to Una in the way we "get down to business" lol. I am glad that a pixie cut seems to be much more versatile than I thought. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, as I see so many comments alluding to " the big nose" remark.

Una, I could totally, totally see you rocking the half-shaved Tilda Swinton look from your link! That would be monumental.

I am permanently scarred from an ill-considered pixie when I was a round-faced prepubescent, and I have to say I still shudder at the very mention of the word! LOL I prefer "gamine" or some such to describe that look!
I tried to rock a pixie for my last semester of college. If time wasn't an issue, I'd go back to my old "pixie bob" my stylist called it. the pixie bob looks like a bob in front, but left super short in the back. As much as I loved my pixie, I felt like it didn't work for me because of my nose. I did have to get the pixie cut every 4 weeks.

I wish I could find the pic of green pixie. That was fun!

I could see you pulling off a Tilda Swinton style. Shaved on one side, long on the other. You have the necessary attitude and hair quantity.
