Definitely get off the emails from all the retailers, flash sales etc.
I also think it depends on where you are in life. When I was younger I loved going shopping and looking at clothing, getting a good price. Now I am older I don't work, the places I have to wear a new outfit are limited

. So even though I still love to go and look it is easier for me to not buy. I ask do I need another "t-shirt, jeans etc", and think about more stuff to switch out when the seasons change.
