What do we think of this Boden handbag color?

I had received a Boden top as a gift a couple months ago. It didn’t fit well, so I exchanged it for the Boden crossbody. I got the yellow, since I thought it would go well with all my blue. I expected it to be a mustard color, but it is almost a neon yellow. This color is not in my wheelhouse, but I appreciate the nice quality and need to decide if I’m going to keep or exchange color. It’s not too much?

Like it? Thoughts? I literally have no yellow in my wardrobe, so maybe it just seems so...yellow.

It’s an adorable bag. While the color is not in my palette I can certainly appreciate that it can be a great accessory, great pop of color for spring summer and fall.
That said- if it will just sit and not be used- you may want to turn it in for another color more to your liking or gift it to a real special friend

This is a GREAT bag, but needs a supporting act (I think). Do you have shoes that will work with the bag?

It's great! (I almost got it, but decided to order the one that's more a bucket shape in citron, so I might be biased.) I'd try it with prints that incorporate some yellow, or with blue/white combinations. I think there needs to be some lightness/brightness in the rest of the outfit for the bag to work.

If it were me, I’d add some other yellow, such as some sandals. I think it would look great with blue or white.

Keep! It looks like it would be 'The One Thing' that elevates an outfit from good to great and you don't even need to have it match anything else you are wearing. If you really wanted to add something else, find a scarf with your colours that has a touch of yellow as well.

I too bought a yellow handbag on a whim and am trying to decide whether to keep it. It's a bit softer a yellow than yours. Like you Delurked I have NOTHING else yellow in my wardrobe. I'm not particularly thinking of buying anything either. It would go with the blue, white, some tans and olives I like to wear in summer. I'm not so much into the "pop of color" thing that a lot of people love. But it is so pretty and summery. Liking Runcarla's suggestion. SO, in summary, I'm either enabling or discouraging you, once I figure out what I am going to do Thanks for starting this thread!

I love this color! If you don't have anything else in a similar yellow and want to tie the handbag in with your outfit, you could try wearing yellow nail polish.

I like the color but I think it really depends on how comfortable you are with it. It seems like it would be a nice contrast to a variety of colors so could be fairly versatile. I had yellow sandals that I was surprised how often I wore.

Gigi - I love your nail polish suggestion. That's definitely something I would do but I'm a nail polish gal. I even have yellow nail polish.

I have this bag and love it! So well made and perfect size. (I'm on a crutch so I've been using it crossbody.) I wear it with lots of other "unmatching" colors (olive, white, navy, fuschia...) and also with a scarf that has that color with it, and am pondering a belt - see finds. I hope you play around with it and end up liking it!

It is very yellow isn’t it!I think the question should be do you like it?If you do there are a lot of good suggestions above to help you incorporate it into your wardrobe but if you don’t like it exchange it for a different colour that you feel is more you.

It is a beautiful bag. I like some of the suggestions that others have given about how to work the colour into your wardrobe. I don't think it is a colour that can stand alone. You would need to add some other yellow elements. Yellow complement! Or you could exchange it for a colour that already works with your wardrobe.

I really like it and would suggest that you find footwear in a similar color. You will get more use from the bag that way.

(i'm not one of those who worries about matching my bag to by outfit...even thought i'm a really matchy-matchy person....i'm more concerned about the shape of the bag, if it holds everything i need, and allows me to find what i need without having to take everything out of the bag)

I have no yellow in my wardrobe but am stalking a particular yellow bag in the hopes that it will be marked down. That being said, I am VERY particular about my yellows because I know that some will work with my wardrobe and others won’t. Pull out stuff from your closet and drawers and see what you think.

I really like it. I like Donna's suggestion of building a complement, if you don't already have one in your wardrobe. That being said, that yellow would probably scare me too, even though I'd be fine with mustard, so I understand if you feel psychologically uncomfortable with it.

Efbgen - I think I would use it. The other colors are pink, which I have none of, and navy. I have enough dark clothing that I prefer a counterpoint in a handbag. This is certainly that.

Smittie - I don’t have much for shoes that work with the bag. I used to have some yellow sandals (a bit darker), but they had to be retired last year. I agree another piece of some sort could be helpful. But I’m at the end of my shopping budget at this point, so want to see if I can make do without another purchase. Or perhaps a jewelry piece could come to play with this crossbody.

Kathie - I agree some lightness in the blue/white could be good. It’s about my favorite combo.

JAileen - you and Smittie have a good point. It may be a bit matchy with shoes, but I’m ok with that.

Runcarla - I am planning to keep it. I don’t want to exchange again for something else. I just need to maximize my usage of it. I run too hot for scarves, and for some reason rarely feel good in them, even though I like on others.

LP - I do like the green with the yellow, maybe with light bottoms. Ha ha - there are some yellow prints we’ve seen around here, aren’t there?

AM - I was going for a fun color. Good to “see” you around.

Chris - I’ll try with some looks tomorrow and maybe post them. I’m not in the mood to try tonight. I do like a pop of color. That’s why I’ve got a red handbag and a royal blue one. I mostly wear crossbody styles. I like the color you show in the find.

Kathie - I’ve eyed that dress in many prints over the years, but never pulled the trigger to purchase. Do you have the dress already? I’m long through the torso, and if things hit too high with a line across my stomach, it’s not a good look. That’s been my hesitation on that style. The skirt is super cute too.

Gigi - I never thought of that. I would need to test it out. It sounds interesting. I wonder if I would like myself in yellow nail polish.

Sara - I don’t mind bright color. I was surprised though at the shade of the yellow. It was unexpected, and when I pictured matching outfits, it was with a warm color. This one seems cooler than I expected.

Donna - yay. I like the size too. Bummer you are on a crutch. I am going to play around with it. I do like the scarf. I see it’s a linen blend. That should be good for summer.

Texstyle - I wouldn’t say it makes me happy. But I really do like a pop of color in a handbag. That’s why I need to see what colors in my closet I like it with.

I like the colour of your bag better than the softer buttery colour that is shown on the Boden website. I am drawn to yellow, but have yet to buy anything. It may take me a little bit of time to get used to yellow and I will be likely start with a print, rather than full on yellow.

I was looking at a yellow bag, but did not get one, instead going for a much more sober blue - and I am enjoying wearing that, even though it does not have the wow impact that a yellow bag may have. Never say never, I am sure that eventually I will add a yellow bag to my collection!

Though complements would be fun & harmonious, I think the color is a lovely pop and versatile enough to stand on its own with other colors, too.

I really like this bag and think that color is very versatile and can go with many other colors. I also have very yellow bag that I wear mostly with navy, blue, and white. I always wanted to build complement around my bag or at least to get scarf or shoes in the same color thinking that it will be easier to wear it, but because of very particular shade of yellow I was never able to find anything that matches enough. So I just wear it as pop of color. But if you have a chance to get another item from Boden in the same yellow I think it will be very useful. Who knows if you will be able to find this same yellow somewhere else.
