Carter, I bought some new bras. White, cream, nude and ... a pattern! It's a tiny beige cheetah pattern. I bought these primarily because they fit.

I also bought new underpants. I've never bought these before - boyshorts. Unfortunately there weren't any nude ones, so I bought denim blue and dark grey polka dot. I wanted all cotton with a lace top edge. TMI probably.

Carter -- I posted earlier that I always wear nude bras under my white tops. However, I bought three bras from Nordstrom Rack in colors ranging from raspberry to baltic blue to black. I threw out ALL of my older bras (assorted nude or black). I tried the raspberry under my white tee shirts and it *seemed* to work so I am going to try wearing it in public until I get to the mall to buy a few nude ones.

BTW. I was shocked at how different I look in a well fitting, new bra compared to the older bras. You can't judge how badly a bra fits until you compare it to new ones. WOW.

nude, always nude. whatever color matches your skin color the closest

The silver idea is news to me - but I'm game to try it! Such a pretty colour. And I assume you don't mean silver with a metallic or shiny finish? And I'm with LaP in wearing black under white with the odd thing. A friend of mine does it and it looks so cool when done intentionally and with the right top. She wears a loose fit white linen tunic with lots of buttons open at the neck and has a lacy black bra underneath. It looks great!

This is a great thread, Carter! I'm learning so much. Great tip on the silver bra.

My 'smalls' fall into two camps: functional and pretty. The first group are moulded cups in nude or black for wearing under tees or light coloured silk tops (worn with cotton no-show briefs, aka granny pants). I have a great deal of trouble with these bras. I need a lined cup for modesty, but find moulded bra s never fit quite right and are awful on side support. I end up feeling both uncomfortable and matronly. The second group are much more comfortable and pretty, but my wears are more limited as most of my tops demand function. There's only one brand of bra I feel truly comfortable and fab in, but it's a French brand and my size is impossible to find in the USA.

JAileen and Sterling, I'm thrilled you found some new bras and panties...in colors! and pattern! I have several colorful bras in my shopping cart!

Sterling, a very wise woman told me today that deep red and hot pink bras can work very well under white tops. Never in a million years would I have come up with that. Now I must try it.

LisaP, not a shiny bra, just a very light gray. Although I'm pretty sure I'm not cool enough to wear a black bra with a white top, that's exactly what my daughter was wearing when she left for dinner:-).

I wear a nude bra with a cream top. I don't wear white anything. I never wear nude undies. Mental block. I have black, brown, paisley printed, orange, nude and red bras. Undies are assorted colours. They rarely match.
I am thankful if I find a bra that fits. Chantelle was my favourite. Not sure what happened. Might be me that changed. According to experts my band size is 30. I find 32 more comfy.

Carter --thank you for your research and heads-up on silver. Good to know that your measurements checked out.

In my old favorite bras (no longer manufactured), I wore pink under white. The pink disappeared underneath white in a way no beige ever had.

These days I wear whatever beige I can get that's close to my skin tone, since I can't get that particular shade of pink anymore! My favorite under-white bra these days is from Kris Line, in "Salmon", which is a light, soft pink.

Nude all the way. I also have black, and actually bought my first coloured one in April at Nordies... a pale blue, which disappears nicely under many tops, but haven't tried under white!

This is on my list of things to do this Summer! First, I have to find sport bras that fit --nearly impossible for me. There is the issue of width in the cup -- not just depth -- that I have to consider.

I've always worn nude and black bras only, and I favor the Invisible Edge panties from Soma. I have been trying some of the prints lately (I know, really partying hard, aren't I?) and I like the dots and the animal prints that harmonize with my bras.

I think with your change in lifestyle, it's a great time to have more fun with your "first layer." It might help you enjoy a more casual wardrobe, too!

I have one of the new bras on, actually the cheetah pattern. It was a struggle getting it on. I put it on backwards and turned it around. Now that it's been on for an hour, it feels fine. In the mirror, I think my body looks a little narrower because as you say, everything is pushed forward. I think I DO look a little better in a tee. I found a picture of the pattern. It's actually grey.

Great looking bra, JAileen! I bet you look great. You are so right about it being a bit more difficult to get the sucker on;-) I'm so used to a too-big, overstretched band, that I had to do as you did and start backwards. Fortunately, they do seem to ease up a bit with wear.
