I've been following this thread for a few days, Gigi. Like Ornella, one of my favorite button front shirts is from H&M, of all places! It's their LOGG brand (Label of Graded Goods). Not only is it soft, it's held up beautifully through many launderings and the sleeves are plenty long for my long arms.

You and I are at different ends of the height chart, but I understand about limited options. I'll look at a shirt online which is offered in, say, six colors. But often if I click on "tall", only one or two of the colors--usually white and black-- are available.

cjh, I hadn't heard of the term "half placket." Thanks for explaining. I think that a half placket gives a shirt a more casual vibe than what I am looking for; I like shirts that button all the way down to the bottom.

bettycrocker, I'll let you know if I find anything. So far, the one button-down shirt I have that is comfortable and drapey is from Anthropologie (it's rayon). Anthro is pricey, but they have SO MANY things in petite sizes now. White House Black Market is pricey too but usually has good-quality stuff.

Windchime, this is actually an old thread, but my need still exists. I will try H&M again; I haven't been in there for several months. The price is always right at H&M! And yes, it's irritating not to have the options that everyone else has, whether you're tall or short.
