I have a black leather skirt and a sleeveless black pleather tunic. I wear both of them (but not together) a lot in fall and winter.

@ Minaminu - that suede jacket is so beautiful. Is it navy blue? It looks navy on my screen.

Beluga green full pleather skirt -- rarely worn because it needs to be ironed between wears and the waistband is often too tight or too loose

Black and burgundy leather jackets -- rarely worn because they're too warm. Burgundy is a bit too brown for my taste.

Cream pleather jacket -- new; worn a number of times so may become a workhorse due to color and shortness. Also, belt is removeable.

Black pleather vest -- replaced a workhorse pleather vest that disintegrated. Hate the non-removeable belt but wear it a lot anyway.

Doubt I will ever buy pants, fitted skirt, or dress because they are more weight sensitive.

Fascinating.

I must say I cannot imagine wearing faux leather in something snug-fitting like a legging.

I would wear faux leather wide leg pants, definitely, because there's room for some air flow. Same with skirts. And my vegan leather sleeveless mini dress I treat as a tunic, with long sleeves and leggings beneath.

The only thing I can think of is my recently thrifted Matt & Nat bag, and it is on the chopping block. I have a fair amount of leather - jackets, shoes, and even pants, but finding second hand pleather that has held up is almost impossible at least around here. If I could afford Stella McCartney I would certainly consider it!

The one pleather item I have is a skirt by Anne Sofie Back. I used to love it, but this season it really is showing the wear. A disappointment, but not unexpected. By comparison, the CdG wool culottes I bought at the same time have had just as much love and probably more. They look as good as new.

I have three jackets and a coat in leather or suede. All have been workhorses at one time or another. Quality is variable, but even at the lower end, the real thing outperforms the artificial in terms of durability.

No pleather, but quite a few leather jackets and one leather dress. If I indulge in a leather item, I feel that I need to wear it for years. These are the leather jackets that I own that are less than 5 years old - I have two more and a dress:
- tan suede jacket which is 19 years old
- black leather zip up jacket with a peplum which is 9 years old
- black perforated leather shift dress which is 8 years old.

The silver moto is a new addition and at the moment I am quite precious about it. The charcoal moto is one of my most worn jackets, perfect length that it works with everything and wins my MVP award.

1 pair of pleather pants in brown- though would be open to a second pair in burgundy.
Toppers: 1 olive suede jacket, 1 black faux shearling coat. Had a pleather jacket but it got damaged. I also had a pleather vest shirt, but the zip didn't go all the way to the bottom and it was a mare to get in and out of.

Only one pair of pleather pants. Very happy with them.

It occurs to me that I misunderstood that this was about “pleather” only and not real leather as well! That’s a different story. I have a good bit of real leather, mostly in jackets. I haven’t been wearing my leather moto jackets as frequently in recent years, but i tend to keep jackets a long time. I also have two longer leather coats — one from Peruvian Connection and one Alice & Olivia. I still have my funky leather pieced oversized vest, which has been on hiatus the last few years but may need to come back out to play in a fresh styling this year.

It also occurs to me that I have mixed media pieces with faux leather — those tend to hold up better than all-faux-leather pieces, in my experience.

I find leather (and faux leather) bottoms difficult. I’ve never owned a pair of real leather pants, despite occasional searches over the years. At 57 and 15 lbs over where I should be, I think that ship has sailed. I’ll get my “tough” fix in my outfits a different way. I have a faux leather skirt that’s pretty new but has barely been worn because pandemic, but it’s timeless and will get worn someday! It’s a quite convincing faux leather, and a wrap style, so it accommodates weight fluctuations. I also have a real suede patchwork skirt that’s probably 25 years old — it’s currently too small, and it’s a tad on the short side for me (knee length), but it’s unique so I keep it in case I manage to get back into that size someday.

@Runcarla, thanks! it is indeed navy blue.

Two leather jackets - a blue moto style and and a teal/black shearling.

Only the ponte pants with the leather patch. I had a different pair a few years ago and missed those ( they were edited out for the patches not lasting eventually even though I only ever washed the top half of the pants.) I have never owned a leather jacket, although they look great on others I was never convinced they would on me.
My previous patch pants were pleather and got me started- the pleather eventually shredded itself after many many wears.
In the 80s I had a real white leather skirt which was costly but I loved and wore it a lot. It eventually discoloured. But I would have grown out of it anyway in my 40s.

I have mostly leather and have found that all pleather pieces are gone, from bags to jackets and pants, all those have cracked and shed their pleather coating. I would never pay leather prices for them. I have a couple of second hand pieces that still get worn but that I bought not expecting a long life span . So far both are wearable and mixed media.. a jacket and pants, going on less than one year in my closet.

The only pleather I have is my blush pink moto jacket. Three other pleather jackets had disastrous disintegration so I'm pretty nervous about this one; I use it a lot and the fit is really good. If I could get a replacement in leather I would.

Right now I don't think I have any other pleather or leather garments. Years ago I had a flared miniskirt in a light pleather material, but I always struggled to style it; and the raw edge made a ton of tiny pulls in my tights. I have leather-look leggings but they're really not pleather.

Nikki, is your grandfather's jacket a flight jacket style? That's what came to mind from what you said. They're quite sought after though can be bought new as well.

Ginger, I was thinking it was a barnstormer or teamster jacket. It’s from the 1930’s. Yeah, hopefully I don’t get mugged for it

That is so cool! Hang on to that piece! Pretty sure I know what it's made from, too. They are tough coats.

I will be back later to read everyone's comments more closely, but Janet, you were correct, my question was about leather and/or leather-like garments.

Oh real leather I do have. A cognac/tan colour knee-length coat (matrix style) I thrifted in Spring, made in Italy. It was a bit snug when I bought it so looking forward to wearing it next Spring. Also a guava pink suede moto, also thrifted - love it. A camel suede blazer, also thrifted and Italian.

Star, those all sound incredibly photogenic, ahem...

Hehe April. My only camera is on my laptop and it takes terrible pics.
