Christie, I am obsessed with Severance! I watched it while I was on my trip, and then came home and told my husband he had to watch it... so I ended up watching it again with him! Anxiously awaiting the next season. It's very dark but also drily funny. Ben Stiller is the producer/directs and writes. John Turturro and Christopher Walken are great presences in it, Patricia Arquette is amazing (a cross between Miranda Priestly and a nosy neighbor character). And Adam Scott is fantastic in the lead. Casting, visuals, music, script are all very well done.

I'm excited that Better Call Saul is back! Going to get hubs caught up on the last season of that and start the new season.

Rewatched Ozark to refresh my memory on how it all started/how it's going, in preparation for the second half of the last season.

Speaking of which, because Ruth Langmore/Julia Garner...Inventing Anna was pretty good. Compelling, and good performances. Bad Vegan annoyed me -- it was way too drawn out and repetitive, and I wonder, is that poor woman really so damaged that she believed the crap that guy told her, or is she complicit in the whole thing and now trying to save face?

Yes, I've heard Severance is really good! Don't have that streaming service at the moment.

Bed Vegan was strange, but I kept watching...and yes, too long.

Somebody Somewhere was surprisingly touching.

Love Lizzo but gave up on her reality show on Amazon after one episode.

Loved Bridgerton! Season 2 didn't disappoint.

I've enjoyed rewatching all the seasons of Downton Abbey and the movie in preparation for the second movie coming out in May. A good rewatch can be so comforting, revisiting the characters, knowing where the story goes. Did this with Mad Men during the winter. And The L Word in the fall.

We rewatched Mad Men recently and I appreciate it more each time I see it. Brilliant show, amazing performances. John Hamm is so much more than a handsome face. Sad to see Robert Morse passed away today — I watched Bert Cooper’s final scene a couple of times in his honor.

Janet, yes, that beautiful final scene Robert Morse did! I saw it on Twitter, so touching. And it's true, I appreciate the craft of Mad Men each time I rewatch. Such great performances by Jon Hamm and all.

Have we ever discussed Killing Eve relative to fashion? Just zoomed thru the first 3 seasons (first 2 were good, 3rd not so) and am amused with the fashion element. Villanelle's style is fun, and I love how they dressed Caroline.

On the third season of Barry. Just started We Own This City on HBO. For fans of The Wire, it's almost a continuation.

(I seriously need to go re-watch Downton Abbey, as suggested above, or something. Too much violence and blood).

Killing Eve is a blast -- wicked fun, and yes, the fashion is so good!

We started We Own This City too. The opening credits include photos by a few colleagues of mine, and the whole story is pretty familiar to me, considering how close to home it is. I wonder if some of it might be confusing for those not familiar with the case -- the jumps in time can be confusing for me!

I'm about to jump back into Russian Doll, now that the second season is available. I'm also about to start the Warhol Diaries, which has been highly recommended!

Winning Time on HBO - the series just finished.
The May Sumo tournament from Japan.
Lots of TCM as always.

I just watched the first episode of Shining Girls (Elisabeth Moss) last night and it’s suspenseful and mysterious.

Janet - I agree that We Own This City is really confusing with the time jumps. I rewatched half of the first episode to sort out what was going on. I don't actually remember all of this happening - I should. It's very cool how local it feels. It also freaks me out, every time I take Amtrak and it runs behind the boarded up row houses. I remember meeting some people at a New Year's Eve party 7 or 8 years ago who were extras in The Wire.

Not TV, but rather a movie. Saw the new ‘Downton Abbey’ movie with my mother. It’s a nice, steady dose of dopamine. Lots of good feels and eye candy. Julian Fellowes delivers.

Oh I do want to see the Downton movie, but now it's here, I'm finding that I'm not quite ready to go back to a movie theater...? How wonderful to have your mother to go see it with, Runcarla. It was a show my mother and I watched together many times.

I have been obsessed with The Staircase. I watched the documentary on Netflix (very courtroom heavy) and I'm now on the drama on HBO with Colin Firth and Toni Collette.

Also loved Conversations With Friends on Hulu. Another depiction of a Sally Rooney novel (Normal People was released last year), it's a bit too much of a slow burn for some, but I rather liked it that way.

The Dropout on Hulu is excellent. I have been fascinated by Elizabeth Holmes and the Theranos story since I saw the documentary a few years ago. Wow, Amanda Seyfried really nailed everything about Elizabeth, particularly the voice. One of the better things I've watched in a while (and you all know I watch a lot!)

Whilst waiting for the movie to show, there were tons of trailers. Everything looked like ‘too much’ - loud and frenzied - Top Gun, a Minions spin off, a Buzz Lightyear spin off, etc., etc. and then this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iO9JcPbbmAA

Now, I’ve got my name on the waiting list for the book ‘Mrs Harris goes to Paris’ at our local library. The indy bookstore in our town reports a series of books written by the author (in the 1950’s) are being re-released in July to coincide with the film.

Runcarla...Oh, that looks like a real feel good film. Love Lesley Manville! She was brilliant in Phantom Thread, a very good but very different kind of movie about a fashion designer, played by Daniel Day Lewis.

I watched The Gilded Age but found it pretty trite and a waste of the acting talents of the stars who drew me to it, Christine Baranski and Cynthia Nixon. They played widowed/spinster aunts who were very much sidelined from the drama. It was very much Downtown Abbey in its later, lesser years (in my opinion it became a soap) but minus some of the charm.

Anyone remember the tv show Scrubs? I recently discovered Fake Doctors Real Friends podcast in which the two main actors from the show revisit each episode and recount their behind the scenes memories. So now I will listen to a podcast and then watch the corresponding episode. (Just a warning for those who are sensitive to foul language, the podcast contains a lot.)

Scrubs is GREAT, AJ

Just about to finish OZARK. It's one of the very best TV shows every made. Jason Bateman and Julia Garner are OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD!

OK, I'm caught up so far with Shining Girls, and it starts off like a serial killer thriller-mystery, but quickly it becomes apparent that there is some sort of supernatural element. Quite Stephen King-ish for those who enjoy that sort of thing. Elisabeth Moss is great in it!

I loved Scrubs and am always up for a good podcast - thank you AJ! The Australian series, Offspring (loved loved loved) reminded me a lot of Scrubs in its early seasons, though it got much more serious as time went on.

Because it has a fashion/style element I’ll throw in Pistol, about the rise and fall of the Sex Pistols. They’ve made sure to include some strong female characters including designer Viviene Westwood and another who I won’t name because guessing who people are is part of the fun. It’s not perfect but very watchable in a fun, stylized, roller coaster stream-of-consciousness kind of way (as in maybe take a thc gummy beforehand if you partake).

Oh, I’ll have to check out Pistol. Right now I’m into Only Murders in the Building on Hulu - Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez. I was laid up in bed, cuz I twisted my back; it was like being Jimmy Stewart in Rear Window watching Only Murders

We enjoyed the first episode of Pistol.

We (me, actually) are diehard murder mystery watchers. We’ve seen at least 75 percent of what’s on BritBox. We watched Rosemary and Thyme concurrently with The Good Life. Both about gardening, but one with murders thrown in. And one actress was in both - Felicity Kendal. The shows were 30 years apart so it fun to see her move from ingenue to middle aged plant pathology professor/gardener.

I signed up for Hugh Laurie’s Agatha Christie and am loving the rest of BritBox!

Rachy, we have loved BritBox. It really sustained us through the pandemic.

Am really enjoying Hacks, with Jean Smart. It's really well written, funny, and has a lot of heart. Short episodes. Great interplay between generations.
Fashion wise, it's a good show too. Jean Smart's character is gorgeous and flamboyant. The Millenial/Gen Z character is in Doc Martens and high waisted everything. (The actress - Hannah Einbinder -is Laraine Newman's daughter! Now that I know that, I totally can tell).

Oh yeah Hacks is good! I do hope they get another season (although they wrapped up the story just fine in 2).

Hacks has been renewed!
Started The Tourist last night, I wasn't exactly sober (this "post" pandemic phase has me partying with friends a lot) but it seemed compelling - I like the cop character and casting of regular looking people).

Since I last chimed in I have watched

Stranger Things
Yellowstone - only on Season 2
Borgen - watching season 1
Pieces of her
Anatomy of a scandal

At the movies I have seen Maverick, Downton Abbey and The young Lovers ( at the film festival).

Stranger things appeals to all of us in the house. Jon doesn’t like Yellowstone.

Mad Men is my favourite tv series of all time. So many good characters. Pete Campbell, Roger, Peggy - and of course Don.

I watched two films over the weekend, both were excellent.

Good Luck to You, Leo Grande with Emma Thompson seeking the services of an escort.

The Worst Person In The World. An interesting story of a young woman finding her way through life and relationships.
