Hurrah! Congratulations Toban, this is awesome. I look forward to continuing to follow your journey.

WOW what an achievement - huge congratulations! You've done so incredibly well AND continue to be an inspiration.

CONGRATS. You are fabulous.

I realize I am resurrecting a 9-month old thread but I also have to say thank you for writing a helpful and inspirational post. Angie mentioned to find this on my recent post and so I searched. I am truly grateful she mentioned this because this is what I needed to read.
I am hoping to lose a lot of weight in a healthy way this year and have had a few small successes in the past couple of months. I have made shopping mistakes in the past while, especially concerning fit or anticipatory buying for where I hoped I would be in a month or so. This post is so reasonable and full of wisdom.
I just had to say thank you to you, Toban, for writing it. And to Angie for referencing it in my thread. I missed it originally as I have just returned to YLF after an extended absence. Obviously, I need to stick around more and at least read a few posts regularly to keep getting the great information and inspiration.
Congratulations on your healthy self!

Wasn't this thread the best? Truly inspirational and extremely practical.

I am so glad that this thread got revived!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, Rosee.

I am going into the second phase of my doctor-proscribed weight loss program. She wants me to maintain the weight loss, but to start to build back muscle that had been lost.

Delurked was helping me decide what to do about rebuilding my wardrobe in 2019 and this exact thread was mentioned. I have purposely not posted about 2019 goals because I feel like my wardrobe rebuild is so up in the air. I have no concrete plans. I have no concrete goals ... other than to get appropriately dressed every single day.

No real joy or excitement in my existing wardrobe. It is very sparse. It is all either black or navy. Some stripes.

Finally, I remembered this exact thread. I mentioned to Delurked that my goal will be to build small, very small, capsules that I can wear over the course of eight weeks*. I will reassess my wardrobe in terms of fit, need, and climate frequently during 2019. I will find an excellent tailor.

*ETA: every four weeks.

Thanks, Rosee, Suz and Sterling. I hope this content is timeless and glad to see it still is helping. I have maintained my goal weight for the past week +/- 3 lb for the past 6 months. My wardrobe is a bit bigger this fall, but I hold to many of these same principles, especially the no duplicates except in exercise wear. I overbought in sweaters, a bit, but each is quite different than the others so I am happy with where it is at. Still some gaps that I am slowly addressing. For instance, I did not have a somber coat for a graveside funeral (only a burgundy one) so I wore an old black one that was way too large — now added a navy winter coat to my list. I am being really patient on the rebuild.

Best wishes on your respective journeys.

Happy New Year, Toban!!!

Wow, loved to read this smart thread and before reading the even so smart comments, too- I will only say I very much agree with that "perfect fitting clothing do indeed always mean a big confidence boost"

Glad for the resurrection of this thread, and your update Toban. There are several lifestyle changes that can result in shifts in wardrobe needs, but nothing seems as dramatic as a weight change. It cuts across all clothing needs. Your template for managing a closet during weight transitions is a brilliant gift to this forum.

Congratulations on maintaining your weight loss and your wardrobe, Toban. Inspirational and well worth rereading.

Well done with your journey, it is very impressive. I really appreciate the wisdom within the posts.

Excellent to hear that you got down to your goal weight! So many of us get close and then vacillate about the last 5-10 pounds. But you were disciplined all along. Are food and clothing more enjoyable to you now?

Such a good post-glad it was revived
