Splurge! I tend to have the same wallet for a long time so I like to invest in a good leather one. Size and capacity is very important. It has to fit comfortably all I need to carry in my wallet. My current one is from Oroton and is black.
Team Save here! I like a brightly colored but small and slim wallet. The one I'm using now is from Target and have had it for a few years now. I sometimes switch out to an even smaller one when I carry one of my mini cross body bags.
Splurge! I am on my 2nd Hobo Lauren wallet, and I can't live without it! It carries everything and has the perfect configuration. I can also use it as a clutch, and it's the perfect size to stash under my arm when doing quick errands, and can hold my iPhone when I need (and coupons, cards, cash, receipts, a lip balm and my everyday lipgloss)
I bought a Fossil wallet several years ago and am still using it. I'm picky about the # of credit card slots, and I like being able to fit my checkbook in it. It's leather and I think I paid about $40 for it.
I vote middle-of-the-road. I splurged on my last wallet (A leather Kate Spade) because I'm picky about configuration. That said, given that a wallet is going to get bumped around in the bottom of my handbag along with assorted lipsticks, my keys, and phone, I'd go with less expensive if possible. The wear and tear isn't worth it to me.
In principle, I'm for splurging, although I picked up my tiny Prada wallet in pewter saffiano leather (fits just a few cards and a folded-up bill or two, which works better with my clutches) for almost nothing on consignment-store credit. Good luck!
Splurge! I'm super picky about configuration. This time I wanted something that would fit paper bills without folding, had a zip coin pocket, a zip around closure, and would lay flat when unzipped. Oh, and a light/bright color so I can find it in my bag. I only found a couple options that met all these requirements, so I splurged when I had a discount code at Amazon.
